mothers have to go on job seekers allowence with children over 7

So you want every mother to stay out of work? How is the mum supposed to have a career if she has to take maternity every X years rather than having 2 or 3 kids in 3 or 4 years and then going back to work?

well if she can't have another kid say for 3 years by law, she has those 3 years to be in work or looking for work right?

On a different note, I was amused recently to see that the DWP are planning on closing a number of job centres with the loss of approximately 2000 jobs.. Those who are made redundant will be eligible for job seekers allowance though, creating work for those who were not made redundant.

Getting mothers off benefits and looking for work, is a good idea, but as usual, will not be implemented correctly, or managed properly, as is normal for anything to do with the benefits system. The government want people off benefits, the taxpayer wants people off benefits, a fair proportion of people on benefits want to be off benefits, but unless the jobs are there, its a no-win situation, just as reclassifying people from income support to job seekers, all it does in the long term, is make the number of unemployed people look worse.

Im also confused

Reworded for the confused well then again im confused so either my post will be confusing more confused then what’s going on in this thread

Mothers who are chavs now have to go on JSA with children over 7

So if we say a woman cannot have 2 kids within 3 years of each other, then baby is born, woman breastfeeds for up to 6 months or so, maternity leave ends and woman goes back to work. It's difficult finding a job as it is, but if the prospective employer knows that there's a fair possibility that the mother will want to go off again for maternity leave within 2 years do you think they will be capable of finding a job, never mind a career?

Just out of interest, what about the majority of mothers who are not "chavs"? The way you're going on you seem to believe that this will only affect "chav mothers", and not the countless other women who stop working to look after their children.

As for finding jobs, it is hard enough for the existing unemployed of the country to find a job; you make it sound like that talented young graduate fresh out of University with a Masters who's been trying to find a job for two years is just a lazy ****. There are thousands of unemployed, young, old, mothers, fathers, who would happily take a job tomorrow if offered.

Surely this has to be a troll thread?

The typical chav mother pushing a pram?

Ah but Gilly my friend, you're forgetting that these are unintelligent chav ladies init? They don't have the brains for a career, they just need to swap selling crack for cleaning toilets, see?

This and with the added problem of childcare as I already mentioned. So strictly speaking even if they were to find work they are never off benefits, as they'll more likely to qualify for tax credits and private childcare.

No if she takes materntity leave, she can go back to her job , thats a law...

What if she doesn't already have a job? You're condeming a woman fresh to the world to a decade of part time work that she will struggle to find anyway, to try and fix a problem you're only going to make worse

It will make it harder for them to find work, so you're making it easier for the ones that don't want to work, and harder for the ones that do (not to mention the fact that the state will have to pick up the shortfall in earnings caused by the restrictions imposed by the government and the additional kids those that don't want to work will have)

A telling argument, I had forgotten how easy it is for the Job Centre to differentiate between chav mums and honest, hard working mums :)

Yep. How do credits for childcare work exactly?

Is it 100% for people on low incomes before it gradually drops off?

i dont get it, doesnt this rule only apply if her child is over the age of 7 ? in which case she just gets pregnant when the child is 6, then waits another 6 years and gets pregnant again. what difference does this 3 year rule make?

Doesn't need to wait, all she has to do is get her unruly brat diagnosed with ADHD claim DLA for it, then claim carer's allowance for being a full time carer for it, which will also get her income support as she can't work being a full time carer. Not to mention housing benefit and council tax benefit. etc.
