Tooth removal with sedation.

So I'm having a tooth out tomorrow along with my fillings changed to white. I've opted to be sedated. Whats this feel like? I hope I remember non of it to be honest.
 
Usually it's just them sticking MASSIVE ****ING needles into your gums, giving it a few minutes then proceeding as planned.

Hey I've been to the dentist before many times and had teeth out and it was a horrible experience with the cracking noise and the guy with his knee on my chest yanking away. Thats why I want to be whisked away to Disney land while it happens again.
 
How are you being sedated?

I've had this done 3 times now for dental work and it's absolutely brilliant! I'm given triazolam throughout the procedure and basically have no memory whatsoever. I remember for a about 20 mins after the first pill (before they start the work) and it's like being nicely drunk.....you know when you've had just enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy? :p Once the second pill goes under the tongue that's it....I'm out.

It's also great for the dentist as they can work quickly and easily - I've had two wisdom teeth out this way and had absolutely zero pain, swelling or bleeding afterwards. Fantastic.
 
Dentist told me I was the only person he'd had in his career who started laughing mid treatment.

Bits of my tooth were pinging off his facemask, the wall, ceiling - everywhere.

Not sure what I found quite so funny, but there you have it.

A jab in my arm afaik, I will not let him continue untill it's physically impossible for me to stop him.

You'll be very happy - trust me. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now......just for the yummy drugs :o
 
Didnt know they did this! Im petrified of the dentist and need a tooth removing, will deffo look into this some more as the thought of the cracking noises etc make me physically sick.

Do it. I didn't go to the dentist for years because I was terrified (some unpleasant experiences when I was younger...) and my teeth were a mess as a result. My first session under sedation was 7 hours long - that's how bad it was in there. Now, 3 sessions later, I have nice teeth again....and no bad memories. No memories at all, in fact :)
 
I have a wisdom tooth out tomorrow as well :( usually just get the gum numbed and its pretty unpleasant. Worst was having 4 out at once, had something like lidocaine, and remember being told I was laughing while they yanked the teeth out, only remember having a huge mouth full of drool afterwards :\
 
I had all my wisdom teeth out WITHOUT sedation! One of my bottom wisdom teeth was curled round the bone and had to be drilled out.

Why no sedation?

Simple

1) Sedation drugs are Benzodiazipiens that are highly toxic to the human body eps brain. These drugs can stay in body for weeks. A pain killer is flushed out of the body in no time.

2) While in sedation your jaw is floppy. Wisdom teeth take A LOT of force to remove... if your jaw is floppy damage is made to mucles and ligerments round the jaw. If you are not in sedation your jaw is tense causing no long term damage

Yes without sedation it is unplesent. You wont feel any pain etc but its not a nice feeling. If you can cope with this do it without sedation as you will be better in the long run. BTW had this advice from my dentist.
