Part Time (my choice) PC/Laptop repair tech for local company
Self employed PC/Laptop repair tech for rest of time.
Is this not hard to do this? I mean to get a client base?

Use your existing network (friends and families) to use you and to spread your name around. Then take every other opportunity to advertise (eg posters in supermarkets, flyers etc).
Awesome job.
Building Services Engineer - Soon to be sub-sea installation engineer.![]()
I guess...Shame I have no decent papers behind me or anything.
Don't let that stop you. Most people who will be using you will have no idea what is what. The people that do won't be using you anyway.
Get some good presentations setup (nicely laid out posters, cards etc), a decently made website and you're set.
Offer a no repair, no pay process, so you can filter out all the time consuming crap and just focus on the quick and easy fixes.
Possibly if the trust is built up, offer a full repair service whereas instead of just diagnosing hardware faults, you can offer to buy in the replacement parts.
Software is a lot easier though, less hassle from people in the long run.
