Huge fire in Newcastle!

Woke up to it all going off this afternon and this is a picture from my mates bedroom window, quite epic to be honest and pretty big. Went for a drive to have alook and it did smell rotten!

There also seems to be a masked vigilante wandering the surrounding area, off to save the day!

WHAT THE!? LOL!

I walk up and down that path every day. Never have I seen such monstrosity of a guy running around in spongebob squarepants pants.

That's no smoke. That's just the fog on the Tyne (and it's all mine, all mine).

Monstrosity?

This guy saves lives and was a calming influence to worried passers by, as they panicked under such an apocalypse.

Doesn't look to dissimilar to the size of the one in North East London a few weeks ago.

I'd defiantly recommend closing windows though, as by night it really smelled off smoke in the air

you mean this one?: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12795926

if you do, i saw it on my way home from uni, and it was pretty damned huge. however, having looked on the BBC, you could be talking about one of about five different fires.

smoke cloud was easily visible from reading in that one, despite the fire being a good 30 miles away

I work in Boldon and you can clearly see it. The smoke plume is so big it looks like it should be ~1miles away however it's nearly 15 miles away!

Plenty of pictures on twitter, just search for the hashtag #newcastlefire

it was at the scrapard down on byker bank, next to the timer yard, other halfs brother was on duty at the time and he was hoping for a big fire soon (hes a nutter) as they havnt had one recently.

few things i have found out is that the scrapyard is next to a timber yard, explosions were heard, and about 2000 litres of explosive fuel were at the scrapyard too. 8 fire-engines and 40+ firefighters

never seen a black smoke cloud like this ever in my life
