Stulid, out of interest, how well does that motherboard overclock? My knowledge on the Sandybridge CPUs/motherboards is very lacking. A friend of mine is thinking of a similar build.

Obviously I have never used one, but all the reviews i seen suggest its fine, the price is killer!!!

Stullid specced me the same mobo and cpu combo and the board overclocks really well. You can't touch the base clockrate on sandybridge cpus without frying them so its pure multiplier abuse. I bought a corsair H60 cooler for my i5 2500k chip and its currently fully stable at 4.5ghz at 1.27vcore so still plenty left in it :)

Highly recommend the board and cpu (+ a good cooler!)

Thanks, but I'm never getting an MSI motherboard again.
Any alternatives?
And IF I do go triple screen would the 560 still be enough? Don't I need more video ram?

I'm currently on a 4890 and its struggling on dual. although maybe that's got to do with the CPU being very slow.
Also I would prefer 8GB of ram.

how is this? a bit of compromise on the CPU.

Yeah I just reminded myself of the benchmarks.
That wasn't very clever.

But I was trying to fit 8GB of memory and a 2GB graphics card. Everything else is pretty much set in stone price wise.

If you really dont want an MSI board? god knows why?

With Nvidia you need two cards in SLI to get three screens.

With ATI you can use one card to power three screens. as long as you use a Active display port adapter ( which converts the display port into DVI) or you use a monitor with a displayport input, so you dont need the adapter.

OR!!

you can use one of these cards,

Whch because they are FLEX can power three monitors at the same res without using the displayport adapter or a monitor with displayport input.

8GB of ram, is this PC for video encoding? or gaming? because the title says gaming.

Yeah sorry, I didn't have the full info at the beginning. Machines not for me, its for my cousin. I was told a gaming machine. So i just asked and the extra memory is for a game called Eve online where you can run multiple clients simultaneously which uses up loads of RAM.

He has 4GB on his AM2+ system now and its not enough.

As for MSI boards, I've been building PCs for a long long while, and i just had a bad batch run that's put me off them.

well, done another build above, and some explanation on how to get three screens working as one (i.e a single large surface)

Thanks.
So instead of the 560 shoulfn't I get at least a 6950 1Gb to cover a 3 screen option rather than an Nvidia?
or is the 560 much faster?

Like I said, you need two cards in SLI for three screens from Nvidia.

You either need a single ATI card using a expensive Active (not passive) displayport adaptor, or at least one of the monitors needs to have a displayport input.

Or use a FLEX card, and just use three monitors with DVI, HDMI mix and match
