Please help with 1st build

Audio driver is loaded. I have tested it by plugging heaphones with a mic attached to the two sockets at the front on the case. It picked them up correctly and configured them. I have tested the headphones with one of the sample songs and it sounded lovely :)

Is there anything else to be done?

Nearly there.
click the windows start button, right click "computer" on the right hand side

run the Windows Experience index.

It will go through some tests, it will finish and present some results, it will probably be around

7.5
7.5
7.5
7.5

but the HDD will only do 5.9, this is normal

Done, and in less than 10 pages. As easy as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.........

Congrats mate. You've been very lucky to have someone with such experience and patience to walk you through. Next time will be easy.

Once you can click on the Internet Explorer icon and bring up a webpage?

First is to Activate windows online, click the start icon, right click "computer" and you will see it near the bottom

you will want a Firewall and anti virus, many people have different favorites.

these two are good and free,

http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/trialpay-za-signup.htm - click the download icon, and save to the desktop, then install the program.

http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx - download this to the desktop, double click it, and it will download the main program and install it for you, once installed you can load the program up from the Tray icons and update the virus definitions.

Then there is the Windows update, i hope you got a nice fast broadband?

Click start, right click Computer as before, and down on the left corner you will see it, click it.

then on the left near the top is "Check for updates" it will search for the updates then tell you how many its found, tick the boxes of them, except the useless Language Packs and click install.

I do have some good news about the other USB ports on the front of the case.

You had nowhere to put the second plug?

Well I read that one of those plastic adapters for the wires, fits in the blue slot at the bottom of the board, and you can put the USB plug into this.

When you're online, download the free version of unigine heaven and run a benchmark. See if your GPU is performing. A quick google will find the scores people are getting with the 560ti (bearing in mind that people lie through their teeth about such things fir sone reason :))

Good find, Stulid! That is cool. I will sort that out when I have a chance. Cheers!

I will try out that heaven test thing as well, Operation.

I remember now that I had intended to try out the basic wondows 7 firewall because i read it is now pretty good.

So that seems to be it then?

So to confirm,

Windows activated.

Fire wall and Anti virus, use Zonelarm its better and AVG if not microsoft security essentials?

Wndows updates.

These are done?

I am downloading avg right now. Then zone alarm. and I had forgotten about activating windows!
Windows did a load of updates itself a minute ago and I reset.

I dont think the fan controller is doing a lot but not too worried about that because the fan is working and isnt noisy like I had read.

Once all those things are done.

Click start, more programs, Accessories, System Tools.

Run Disk Clean up (ticking all the boxes!!)

Then same location do a Defrag.

DONE:)

Play games.

P.S tidy the cables!!!!!

Double check the resolution its set too is the maximum for the monitor now that the Nvidia drivers are installed, right click the desktop, select nvidia control panel, then on the left "Change Resolution"

This is so very cool. :D

I want to thank you again for your help, advice and encouragement, Stulid. Your patience has been amazing and your knowledge invaluable. I really would have been in a mess without you so a massive thanks. If ever a time comes when I become aware that I am in a pub with you I shall buy you beer all night :)

Thanks to everyone else who helped me as well.

I am still amazed that I have got such a good pc, built myself and sitting in front of me only a few weeks after I decided to treat myself (and it was meant to be a few hundred quid cheaper at the beginning but I am so pleased I let myself be carried away;)

Cheers :)
