I went for these ones:
http://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-details/kumho-ku31-255-35-r20-97-y-xl/

They seem to have good reviews, doubt they will match the pirelli but are less then half the cost. I was a bit dubious about Oponeo but they are the cheapest place by quite a bit. Apparently they are Poland's biggest tyre supplier, anyone ordered from them before?

Protyre have quoted £12 a corner for fitting, is this reasonable?

£12 per corner is pretty expensive tbh. But not extortionate.

No doubt fox will be along shortly to ridicule you for buying budget tyres from a dodgy polish supplier shortly so i'll leave that to him :p

Insignias run on 20inch rims?

Standard 19s, but they are cast. The optional upgrade wheels are forged 20 inch ones, which are lighter than the 19s. Nearly everybody seems to have opted for the 20s when ordering.

Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, wheel sizes on some cars are just getting way out of control.

I view 18s as being big enough personally, but here we have a pretty bog standard car
(320bhp only) on 20s!
Even exotics such as the 360 only came with 18s or 19s.

£12 a tyre does sound expensive to me to fit, I had a set of 19" fit locally for £6 a corner balance and fit.Cant see why it would be twice the price for that extra inch.ID shop around.

They're not budget ones, but are not the premium ones either.
Looking at the VXR forums they do get good feedback & rated well. As for the shop... Yes, but £30 cheaper per tyre so saving £120 with free delivery. There are some review for them floating around to suggest they are good :)

I was quoted £20 a corner first.
Then called Protyre who quoted £12.

I live in Gloucester so there are plenty of tyre places. I do have to be careful though as I have been warned that not a lot of places cant fit 20's without damaging the alloy.

lots of places claim they can't fit without damaging them.

They're just making an excuse. Speak to any decent tyre fitter and they will tell you this is just down to them being sloppy.

I agree a bit. I dislike large rims on cars. I sort of hate the fact I have 19s on the 535d - I'd prefer 17s or 18s on traditional (not runflat) tyres. I don't think rubber looks bad on a car, and it helps soften the ride and make the car more pliable. I'd change but I can't be bothered with the hassle and cost, and there aren't many 17 or 18 designs that look as good as the 19s.

Of course they do, because with human psychology it is almost impossible to discount price when rating a product you've purchased.

Thats why on the Ferrari forums nobody rates Kumho's yet on the Corsa forums everyone thinks Nankang are amazing.

Because ER300 come as standard on some cars that are not overly mid range, and at ~300hp the KU31 will be just fine as a tyre

Right on cue.

Fox criticizing kumhos, as inevitable as death and taxes :D

I have Kumhos on my MX-5.

I didn't buy them. I don't have to justify their purchase.

They aren't as good as the RE050As I had on the Alfa, another tyre that I didn't buy.

They are also not as good as the FK452 in the wet but better in the dry - guess what, I didn't buy those either!

I won't be buying Kumhos again when it comes time to buy tyres. Why? Because for not much more money I can get better tyres.

P.S. www.google.co.uk - clicking that will save you some time in formulating a reply :)
