Hey There!

I would just like to check that this will work, what I’m hoping to do is watch TV via Freeview on my computer using a TV tuner card. Will the follow card work with the standard aerial that you would plug into a set-top box?
Also, will I have to use their software, or can I use other media plays such as VLC or KMPlayer?

I will be happy to provide any additional information needed.

Thanks!

Looks good for a Standard Aerial, you can even see it on the picture.

As for software you'll probably find it integrates with many types of software. Mine came with it's own PCTV software but works a treat with Windows Media Center. Haven't tried others because of limited DVB-T2 integration with open source solutions, which won't be an issue for you as you are only getting the standard def DVB-T tuner.

How would somthing like this work if you struggle to get a good picture on a normal tv with an indoor aerial would it be the same kind of quality on your pc?

from my personal experience, i would say you need a better signal with a tv card than an actual tv, i always find the picture better on a tv using the same ariel

Personally, I would advise against buying any TV tuner that isnt DVB-T2. Even though the marketing says '1080i, where available' etc etc, there are no HD signals that broadcast on DVB-T in the uk. Its a marketing con and you are shooting yourself in the foot.

Why the UK decided to run with DVB-T2 is beyond me. Its not forward looking or progressive, its irrelevant, esoteric and a stiff finger to people with DVB-T cards/usb and set top boxes.

UNless you are really close to the transmitter indoor aerials aren't going to cut it. An external aerial, with hi gain and lots of elements is the only way to get a good signal in weak areas. Amplifiers and boosters tend to amplify noise as well as the signal so are useful but won't turn a weak signal strong. Another solution is freesat of course.

I may have to just link the pc to Cable or somthing because even phone signals are very low in my house on any network, for some strange even though we live in a very populated built up area.
