Well, we can dream? :p

Sounds like Robbie Keane :D

I am really not sure that Aguero would fit into our team to be honest and I'd expect him to cost a bomb. Bit undecided whether it would be a wise expenditure or whether the money is better spent elsewhere.

*cough*...Honda...*cough*

:D

Reports in Spain suggest that Manchester United will announce the signing of Atletico Madrid's David De Gea next week.

United have been looking for Edwin van der Sar's replacement for the last few months.

The retiring Dutchman has recommended his fellow countryman Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax - but coincidentally he now looks a target for Atletico, with De Gea seemingly Old Trafford bound.

Madrid sources claim the deal is worth €21million (£18.3million) with additional add-ons.

The 20-year-old has already confirmed that he will be making a decision on his future at the end of the season, and it now appears he will be heading to England.

United again look set to be busy early in the transfer window, as they like to do.

Along with De Gea, it also seems they are closing in on Lens' highly-rated French stopper Raphael Varane and Aston Villa's Ashley Young.

Central midfield is also high on Sir Alex Ferguson's agenda and further reports from across the Channel claim that United could have an interest in Arsenal's Samir Nasri.

Nasri has just 12 months left on his current deal, and L'Equipe claims that he is on United's radar - as they also consider Luka Modric and Wesley Sneijder as the long-term replacements for Paul Scholes, who is yet to decide whether he will continue playing next season.

Will probably be the least surprising transfer when that is confirmed (the De Gea one)

Oh and Berbatov confirming he will be at the club next season

This is great news.

If used properly, he is a magnificent player. Unfortunately, he doesn't get used properly very often, he just gets thrown in wherever Fergie has a spot.

I hope that changes.

By all accounts Chicharito will miss the start of next season having been given an extended break so I'd at least expect Berbatov to start the season with Rooney like he did this year, just depends on whether Fergie reverts back to Rooney and Chicharito when the latter is back and fully fit

Someone using "coincidentally" instead of always-incorrect-but-always-used "ironically" in a football article?

That's got to be false.

Anyone heard the comments that Wenger has made on the transfer window?

He says that for the first time in a while he will be active in the window, which hopefully means in and out, not just out. Also it looks like Bendtner will be leaving in the summer, there's interest from English and German clubs, I thought he'd have ended up going to Italy or something but I can see him playing in the Bundesliga. Arshavin might be going back to Zenit also, he's been training with them in preparation for the Euro's, not that it means anything, but apparently they have asked if he would be open to the idea of moving back there. Denilson is of course highly likely to be leaving in the summer as well, provided we get an offer for him. :D

Overdue to be honest. It might mean you have a job integrating the new faces next season but hey what's one more season when winning with things as they are isn't exactly looking likely currently.

On the Nasri thing (and not that I believe it could happen whatsoever) I really dont think he'd be the answer tbh, we need a player who can dominate the midfield area something I've never seen Nasri do

Maybe a good signing to bolster the squad but not as a lone midfield signing

As long as changes are made I don't mind a period of transition, we haven't won a trophy in so long, but as long as Wenger can at least admit his faith in certain players was misplaced, and that his youth projects don't always repay the trust he puts in them then I'm fine with that. If it's true and the likes of Denilson and Diaby are on their way out then that's great. But only as long as Wenger learns his lesson and supplements our already young squad with some talented experience. I think our average age is something like 21 years old and the way the team capitulated after the Carling Cup defeat their ages really showed. The lack of experience and steel really hurt us imo.

Hmm.. They say they are in a strong financial position yet I've been reading that they to delve deep into the supporters trust fund.. Don't kniow quite what to make of that..

Nasri target for Fergie

I haven't really been reading up on Arsenal news over the past few weeks, I've just wanted to bury my head in the sand after our last couple of months so I haven't heard anything about the money situation. As for Nasri it's a tricky situation, either we go balls out and make a commitment to renewing his contract, or we make sure that we get his full value and that if possible he doesn't go to a league competitor. If he went to Man Utd that would really be a blow to us and I think he would be just the type of player that could thrive in their squad.

Lets hope so.

I don't mind Bentdner, with a run of games he can chip in with some goals or assists. However he's years away from being anywhere near RvP. If he wants to leave let him I say.

And the E7m offer for Arshavin will be a good bit of business provided an adequate replacement is bought and considering his age. A gross E8m to ensure Champs League football a few years ago is a great bit of business.

Indeed. If we played a system that allowed two strikers to be properly used then I would be all for keeping Bendtner and letting us see what he can do next season, with a long run of games but with our 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 he will never get a chance up front when we have a fit van Persie so like you I don't mind seeing him go. For what it's worth I liked the guy, he had a good attitude compared to a lot of players, it's a shame he didn't get more chances because like DM usually points out the man had a great output considering most of the time he has been stuck on the wing.

I'm a little indifferent about Arshavin, he's puzzling, he's got decent stats but when you watch him he's lazy, hardly ever tracks back, hardly ever makes decent runs, when he cuts inside he loses the ball a lot, but he just pops up with an assist or a goal now and then, I'm not sure if he should be kept or sold. If we can bring in someone who is going to be of more benefit to the team then we should look to cash in on him. At times he looks like he's in his own world and he does give away possession an awful lot which can put us on the back foot.
