Just been asked by the coppers, to partake in an ID parade.

Anyone else done one, what actually happens in them?

I did it back in the 90s. I got paid a fiver. I wanted to do more ID parades but they wouldn't let me.
And I was told they already knew who'd done it, so if I got identified I wouldn't have anything to worry about.

It's fun being average height, hair colour etc. I look like everyone, only uglier.

Well funny..... sometime's they pay for your time too only £10 or £20 though, in most cases they know who the person who did the crime they just can't prove it and need to offer the suspect a fair ID parade so they pick random public to be in an ID parade.

the thing is your in the same room as the suspect anyway and your not told who they are so your left guessing who it is.... never been asked but good luck mate....LOL

Prepare to go to court in your best suit and tie, And then spend time in the nick.

This day and age its a video parade, each person is recorded for about 15 seconds and then the main suspect is detained an the rest go on their merry way. It's basically to see if the witness can finger the right person. *giggles finger* ... I had to do an ID parade a few years back as someone tried to sell me cocaine in a nightclub and I reported it to my mate who is the bar manager.

Do they pay everyone for taking part or do they pay everyone but the criminal (i.e. if they ask but don't offer you money then don't do it) or do they pay everyone but take the money back if someone is subsequently found guilty? :D

Aren't the police likely to have someone ready to charge within the lineup though? So if the victim IDs a random vagrant instead of the perp, you know they're not a reliable witness, that's all. They won't just go 'oh hey it must be that guy, get him boys'.

i did it years ago and got paid for it, not that i looked anything like the guy....well none of us did, the suspect was the only one wearing a scruffy t-shirt and joggers and looked like he spent a night in the cell.
