So evolution, how does evolution know what to evolve to and how to adapt?

Allow me to put you an example.

We and many other living things have specific features that perform specific functions. Eyebrows and eyelashes on humans for example, how did evolution know that we need some fluff around our eyes to keep particles out?

Chameleon, how did evolution evolve the Chameleon so that it can change colour to hide itself.

Why do we have ears so we can hear stuff? How on earth can that be evloved from some single cell stuff back billions on years?

My mind is baffled by the epicness of the unknown.

*buzz* captain our sensors are detecting a cloaked troll could be a sensor clitch, or just maybe its a troll hmmmm

*cough* yeah anyways, evolution just happens my fine fettled uneducated friend, its all chance, if somethings useful it stays, if not the creature dies out, humans and all our features stayed because there useful, hence why everyone has them.

Google evolution, read up on the fine detail :)

Did anyone watch that 'Inside the Human Body' the other day? The last one was about the brain, it just boggles the mind some of the things that are possible. A girl had a condition that caused seizures so the doctors removed one half of her brain, knowing that to an extent the other half would adapt and functions would transfer as she was still so young.

More insteresting is how 99.9999999% of us are made the same way, with eyes and ears in the same place, with 2 arms and legs in the right order etc.
From that initial egg and sperm, we turn into a human looking like a human.

amazing

Robert Winston wrote a great book about the human mind, if you liked that program you might like that book

My wife insisted that I watch it, and I was glad that she did, as it was brilliant.

The OP clearly doesn't understand evolution at all! :p

The whole point is that random changes occur. Those that are beneficial are more likely to be passed on to offspring. There is no "decision making" or view of something to aim for. Just random changes, some of which are kept and some of which are discarded.

edit: and if you want to know how advanced organs such as ears and eyes can evolve from simple changes, then there is a lot of information on the internet to answer that in detail.

My rather uneducated view on it is that over hundreds of thousands of years, mutations occurred in each species and any mutation that gave an advantage to the survival of that species would then be carried down through the generation. The animals that didn't have this mutation would then die out. i.e survival of the fittest.

Gonna have to iplayer Inside the Human body. I was hoping they'd do one on the brain! :)

I'd ignore them Princey, if you have come across in your OP as not having a clue then they could at least point you in the right direction rather than calling you a troll.

Explain what a troll is, or what your understanding of a troll is? Someone who isn't educated on a subject is a troll right? I'm sure I know things you don't. HEY UR A TROLL! LOL!

So you're not a troll then? Either way I'd start taking the tablets again as the voices seem to be coming back.

Oh, and maybe look up evolution online if you're interested rather than start a thread on a computer forum. Just sayin' ;)
