****Official L.A Noire thread****

While very good, it's certainly not game of the year.

It feels a lot like a tech showcase with some decent gameplay features added in. To me the visually fantastic looking city hasn't been fully utilised which is a massive disappointment as the locations look great. The side missions are a bit lame. The main gameplay, while good in small doses, is very repetitive.

The characters needed better overall development; like Phelps' family/wife or other outside interests to flesh out the character and make you care more about him and his life. The story hasn't blown me away or kept me glued to the screen like other games have. The clue finding doesn't involve any skill...but the interview are done very well and can be quite tricky.

Overall: amazing looking game, with some great features, but one that fails to deliver like I hoped it would. I'm on disc 3 and would give it 7/10 from what I've played so far.

Pretty much how I feel about it. Well summed up :)

Reminds me a lot of Heavy Rain the style of play anyway and as some have said this isn't game of the year there really isn't a lot to the gameplay if I am being honest, its ok but I am soon getting tired of it much prefer there last game red dead redemption.

I too preferred red dead redemption but understand that la noire was made by a different developer and with a different game engine.

Good post. I agree with every point.

Another thing I dislike about LA NOIRE is how serious it is. GTA/RDR all had some humor in it but so far I haven't seen any in Noire.

I still get all googley eyed at the amount of detail put into crime scenes. I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would, probably because am not very good at it. lol. Will complete it but The Witcher 2 (so far) is my GOTY.

I wish we could draw our own conclusions in the game instead of going by what the game is giving us. Not sure how they would do that, but theres been times when I knew straight what the outcome was.

I've noticed quite a lot of humourous comments made by the characters in the game.

Again, this isn't meant to be like GTA, not at all. People just can't seem to understand that.

No, I do understand that its not supposed to be like GTA. I don't want it to be like GTA. I just wish it had abit more humor. The alcholic partner you have in the homicide cases has some good humor in it though.

Indeed, there are a few funny moments but it generally tries to keep a serious tone.

Finally got round to playing my copy...

Within 5 minutes of starting the game my phat PS3 frozen, had to turn it off and on again via the rear switch.

My housemate has nearly completed it and has had ZERO problems - he has a slim.

So annoying. Never had issues with anything like this in the 2 and a half years I've owned the console.

I don't see why games should be funny though?

I don't remember laughing too much at Heavy Rain? Which this (imho) has more in common with then any of the GTA Series?

The World is brilliant, in looks and design, okay it would have been nice to have more variety in some of the side missions and a bit "more" to do other then the main story ... but really it's a non issue for me.

Not had one lock up/ crash and am still on the phat 40gb console.

Just finished it finally. Thought it would never end tbh. Ending was hardly spectacular at all. At least the side missions are somewhat enjoyable and I've 15 left I believe. 8.5/10 for me.

Just finished the lip stick murder one and am finding it hard to keep playing its just the same thing over and over nothing to keep you hooked.
