Free PS Games for the PSN being down

People previously posted in the other thread that the store was due back on the 24th did they not?

Can't find anything to confirm this on the Playstation Blog though.

I have a PSN from when I had a PS a few years ago can I redeem the games? Also my GF got a PSP while the network was down so she couldn't register, take it she gets nothing?

and that's precisely why I'm not getting my hopes up, the May 24th date is apparently when Sony told developers etc when the store would be coming back but nothing official has been announced.

I have owned an account for years but also haven't owned a PS3 for years. I've changed my password and everything through emails. I was thinking of picking up a PS3 again, would I be eligible for the free games?

Ta.

yes its linked to PSN and not your machine

From the PS blog today:

The latest information I have on PlayStation Store is that we are aiming to have it live by the end of May. Contrary to popular rumours, it will not be reopening tomorrow but we will let you know here as soon as the date is confirmed.

Looking like it will be next week then.

That's bad news about the store, I picked up LA Noire and Dirt 3 for the PS3 assuming that the store would be back this week. OK LA Noire is just an extra case but Dirt 3 needs the code redeemed for online play and for Single player game (to get the better cars/rep)... I should have known better and kept the order for Xbox :( very poor show Sony

Er Sony never said it would be the 24th it was a rumour and Codemasters can do what MK did and allow online play without a code until the store re-opens.

I realise Sony never said the 24th, thats the problem, they dont say anything so people assume. My moan is the lack of info, if I had more info i could have made an educated decision and bought the xbox version if it was much of a delay, I didn't so assumed, my fault there should have known better.

Hopefully codemasters may offer something if it carries on as the game is spoilt from all sides at the moment.

I've had a ps3 for a while (bought for the Linux capabilities, but don't need it for that anymore), and not used it for gaming, but it now seems that I'll get a couple of free games anyway!

Does anyone know roughly how big the game downloads will be? The 40gb hdd that's currently in there is making some very sickly noises so I should probably replace it, but don't want to go overboard on size.

mechanical hard drives are extremely cheap these days.

make sure it fits (a lot of 2.5" dont, it has to be a specific size of 2.5").
make sure its 5400 rpm (faster ones produce more heat = problems for ps3 and early death)
ssd drives make next to zero perfomance upgrade

you should be able to easily get 10x what you have already for less than £50.
