hi guys...

i am looking at getting a new monitor... the one i am looking at is the one from overclockers. aparently it is a iiyama with a led display.

can you pls let me know what you think of it..... my current one is a samsung p2050 and it is pretty good but i am wanting something bigger now. do you think this will be a good upgrade?

I was looking at those, but decided for my usage I should save up and go for something better, as they are budget monitors. What is it you want it for? Photo editing, gaming...?

gaming and watching movies and manga..... i do a lot of gaming i get 86 hours ave in stam for 2 weeks and that is excluding the other games i play out side of steam.

i just though it will be nice as it is bigger than what i got currently and the contrast is not bad and the response is allso good and it is *according* to them full HD
 
I have 26" Iiyamas. Not had a problem. Brightness is ok. Great for gaming. Not sure about budget monitors though

You need to decide whether cheaper is better in the long term

I got one a couple of weeks ago as my dell monitor let me down. I was only going to use it for a short while as my main monitor if it was rubbish, but it's been surprisingly good. So much so I'm going to use it for the forseeable furture, comparing it to my old 228wfp it's a better picture, both in colour representation and contrast - very happy for a £130 24 inch monitor.
 
Is a budget monitor classed as anything under £300 or so? (Just a guess). Unless you choose to spend a lot more money then I reckon that Ilyama is fantastic value for an led backlit monitor. 1920*1080 is indeed full hd.
 
For just under £200 you can get the Dell 2311H which is universally considered to be excellent but is 'only' 23 inches. However it will have better colour reproduction, contrast, viewing angles, and probably response times as I wouldn't trust the 2ms stated on the budget screens at all. My dilemma is I want the 24" screen with the benefits of the Dell, but to get that you're looking at £400 plus.
 
That's exactly the reason I took a punt on one of these. The dell 23 inch 16/9 monitor would look slightly smaller than my old 16/10 22 inch one, so was just too small. And as you say, the 24 inch dell ultrasharp was too expensive to justify my spending as it was an unforeseen layout.

This one will last me for a year or two and then I'll just demote it to my second monitor, but at 25% the cost of the Dell Ultrasharp it's very good value and for the money I can't fault it.
