UEFA Champions League Final - Manchester United vs. Barcelona

No real shame in losing to the best team of all time. I found some comments funny, 'Messi hasn't scored in Eng', 'Messi hasn't scored in 4 games', lol Messi doesn't give two hoots about useless stats! Special player and a very special team.
 
Barca played brilliantly, we had two very bad defensive lapses (Evra for the first, Carrick opting a cute layoff for the second) and you can't do that against a side of that quality.

I think we missed Berbatov on the bench and the fact he reportedly left the stadium before kickoff means we'll need a new midfield and a new striker next season.

Gutted, but sheer brilliance from Messi. Sad to see VdS leave on a loss.
 
Man Utd always, and i mean always had no chance coming into this match.

Barcelona are on a whole different level than United.

Its a shame given Barca's funny defense set up that Utd didnt test it at all with any decent crosses or corners.

You have to think that Berbotov will be off now, 2nd fiddle to that has been Owen, and not with the other team. VDS had a mere of a last game.

Saying that Barca were the better side.

Indeed. When you have a player as good as Berbatov it makes sense to adapt your team to take advantage of him, not just ignore him.

Its actually quite stupid.

I'd have to agree with that, should have saved first and second. Mind you, was lucky not to concede a lot more.

Don't know how Valencia wasn't sent off, nice lash out by giggs on Puyol near the end.

Well played Barca, by far the better team.
 
United didn't learn from the first half, I thought they'd change things and try something different but instead they just got destroyed. They waited till 2-1 down to try and change, and then it was 3-1 a split second later and that was it. Spirit doesn't get you very far if you never have the ball, although to be fair VDS might have saved the Messi goal, and number three was just ridiculous and unsavable. Barca wrapping up the league early and using the last 2-3 games to rest 90% of their first team seems to have done the trick, they were lagging after the Madrid games but looked pretty fresh tonight.

Still, enjoyable final and some of Barca's passing had me laughing at the TV, such was the ridiculousness of it. Such a pity they like being theatrical when it's not going their way.
