335i v 330i v 330d

The thing with diesels these days is that because of all the torque, they are faster than petrol cars, and you definately can't tell they are diesels anymore. So with all this hype in mind I did feel it was rather foolish to overlook the 330d - if it was genuinelly as good as the legend suggests it certainly offers a compelling solution to the problem of rising fuel costs.

Did I miss the sarcasm in this? My bad! :o

I keep hearing how unreliable the 335i is but are they really that bad, I have not seem that many reports of failed turbos on e90post.

I have never had a problem with the 335i's I have owned. Well we did buy one that was a lemon but it was small niggle issues with that car nothing major.

The turbos don't fail, the high pressure fuel pump does. As for reports on E90post, there is a sticky in the main forum with over 1000 replies and 130,000 views, and a seperate sticky about the recall in place in the USA for this issue, with over 70,000 views.

I can't really appreciate how fast my cars are, unless there is some sound to go along with that speedo going up and up.

The M1 sounds utterly fantastic, and many are comparing it to the M3 - But we have here probably the last great N/A M car with quite possibly one of the finest engines ever made. High revving V8 versus forced induction 4's and 6's? No contest.

I've owned Biturbo Audi V8's and boy do they sound mean (mostly since its a V8), but the current gen M3 engine is something really special. In fact on another level entirely. I suppose the M cars eventually had to go the way of forced induction, but BMW's swansong is amazing.

I doubt the 450 'limited run' will be that limited. After the first 450 get sold, they will make another 450, and another.... It's great for driving up sales in the current climate. Everyone wants to jump on board for fear of missing the boat. With a car that probably cost tens of millions to produce i seriously doubt they are going to try their luck at making nothing from it.

I dont know how anyone can compare the 1 Series M Coupe to an E92 M3 coupe other than 1M buyers trying to justify their purchase.

The M1 is in the same price range as a nearly-new M3, there is little disparity between the two markets and comes down to personal choice of the buyer. Something as simple as 'I don't need access to the rear seats often' is often a deal-sealer between the two.

They are too small for me personally.

As much as i don't like overly large cars, I don't want to feel i'm inside a 'pocket rocket' either. I grew out of that when i stopped drinking Alcopops about 12 years ago.

3 series BMW's are a perfect size, along with the other cars in their class. I'm a little unsure what the target market is for a 1 series M coupe - Amazing performance but designed for weekend use only?

So youre trying to tell me that most 1M coupe buyers were considering an M3 but then decided that because they dont need access to the rear seats, they went for the 1M instead.
This is the exact point I am making. 1M owner believing their car is as good if not better than an M3.

lol

I thought the 1m was getting great reviews.. surely if its a great car than thats enough?

Or am I missing something

It is a great car, but he is trying to say that its so similar to an M3, it often comes down to whether you need rear seat access or not (Despite the fact both M3 Coupe and 1M Coupe have... err.. the same method of access to the rear seats) as to which to buy, because they are in the same price bracket.

He posts stuff like this and is then confused why some of us are cynics. Remember he hasn't actually said what car he has bought yet, it's all some big secret or something. All we know is that it's completely free and costs nothing to run, zero outlay so he says :D

Personally i'm waiting for baited breath about whether or not a decision to jump to an extra 500cc's of displacement has been made.

I couldnt sleep last night because of it.

Great read! Love the E92 :)

I saw an 08 reg 330i M Sport Auto (49k) including Idrive etc. for around £19k. What would you estimate (rough) a similar models selling price to be around summer next year?

Am I right in thinking the F30 production might lead to an E92 buyers market?
I think I may be off the mark considering the F32 is its real successor and most would upgrade to that rather than the F30.
