HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Hi

I downloaded Gingerbread on my Desire HD at the weekend. After playing around with it for a while I thought I would do a full Factory Data Reset to get it like it like a brand new phone with Gingerbread. Later on I downloaded the Google maps updates again only to find that the phone for some reason seems to have duplicated the Google Navigation apps and the Places apps.
Anybody know how to I can get rid of 1 of each app??

Yeah you will need to S-OFF before you are able to flash any new ROM's and I think you will need to ENG-OFF too if you need to flash a new Radio, which you will probably have to do as some of the ROM's out there highly recommend a specific radio version - though they will explain this.

When you come to flash a new ROM which you will do through the ClockworkMod Recovery program, the ROM's I have came across so far recommend that you do a full data/cache wipe (one of the features in the ClockworkMod Recovery program), which totally wipes everything on the phone's partition, but leaves the SD Card & SIM Card untouched. Once you have wiped the data & cache, you then go ahead with flashing the ROM.

Can I use any micro usb cable to charge a Desire HD from the mains charger (original cable is knackered) or does it have to be a specific 'charging' one?

Anybody had any problems with wifi after the update ? Im on Vodafone.
mine stopped working after the latest firmware update, connects fine but no pages load.

You're selling(as in not sold yet) the phone for £20 a month ? and you're asking if you got a good deal.

I'm having trouble with wifi after the update. If i cover the side panel then i loose signal, i never had this problem before the update.

My WiFi won't even switch on. It was working fine until today. It just says error. My side + - buttons aren't working either. I'm not sure if thats related or not.

exact same problem...says its connected but nothing loads, have to disable it in the house or nothing will download from 3g either as it thinks the wifi is working ok

strangely it worked on someone else's wifi connection, just won't work on my own. reset my bebox but no difference.

Has anyone here bought a spare/replacement battery of eBay and able to recommend a brand/type/seller? There's so many on there at so many different prices it's impossible to tell what's decent and what's not.

I got mine from the guy selling item 200606230096, and had no issues with it before I sold the phone.

Mine did seem worse, but it seemed my 3G radio was stuck on. Or something to that effect, anyway; a bit of tinkering with things/blind luck seems to have sorted it though.

Well FINALLY

I finally got the 2.3 update on my T-Mobile branded Desire HD today. About dam time!

Can anyone tell me what updates I should be looking for now that I'm on 2.3 from 2.2?
I see the lock screen is different and some icons are different in the notification bar and settings widget but apart from that I've noticed nothing different.

Also, the keyboard looks exactly the same which is kind of disappointing. I thought 2.3 had a new better keyboard. Any reason I don't have it?

When installing new roms you can sometimes suffer from terrible battery life, maybe it's the same thing? The solution is to go into bootloader and delete battery stats while it's fully charged, I think. Google deleting battery stats on DHD or something...
