Hey all i need a bit of help. I play games at a decent level and i am after a good gaming headset for around 50 pounds. Its mainly for gaming but if they sound good for music and movies its a bonus.

I am coming from a pair of speedlink medusas but there on there last legs and time for a change i feel. I also owned the creative fatal1tys which i like but would like to try something else unless they are the best option.

I was looking at the Roccat Kave 5.1 Surround Sound Headset but seems a bit out of my price range.

Should i be looking at Analogue or Usb. I'm using onbaord audio if that makes a diffrence.

So many options and choice and not been a auidophile i am a bit lost what to go for.

A good set of stereo headphones and a clip on mic, better then any gimmicks.

+1. Stereo's fine. Add on your mic and you're good to go.

USB/3.5mm i havent really seen much difference myself. I prefer having 3.5s for the sound card, but my usb headset has been ace as well :)

Budget?

Sennheiser HD555, or if splashing the cash HD595. Lovely set of cans.

EDIT: Just saw you said around 50, so the 555s :p

Goldring NS1000 Active Noise Reduction Cancelling Headphones.

It's on sale atm and just over your budget but i don't know how good they are as I am waiting for the delivery to come tomorrow i hope :D

I have been reading up about them and i think there was a bad batch a while ago, so i hope all problems have been solved now.

I do not suggest these, at all.

I must have got the bad batch, but mine are cracking beyond belief, I will upload a picture later, but they are hanging on by cellotape, because they're that badly cracked. It's not as if I treat them wrecklessly either, they just do it when they're on your head.

I hope mine don't go like that :(

Can you not send them back ?

I have a set of logitech g35 virtual 7.1 and they're hella tight.
So I bought the roccat Kaves and they're hella heavy...

those 595s look light and also the spec say they're light.
Wonder how they stack up in dolby headphone?

Get 595's you will be very happy.

only downside is they are open backed so people around you can hear them quite easily, my gf complains but.............lol

this isnt related to only these, loads of headphones are openbacked, just to clear that up.

I've got some Citronic HP500 Pro's, good quality and very comfortable. Can be had for about £30 and then get yourself a desktop microphone.
