Just for fun, people who currently own a car which has done over 100,000 miles. Cars seem to be lasting longer and longer, and it would be interesting to see who here has the car with the highest mileage.

What car is it?

What mileage are you currently on?

What major parts have you replaced?

How long do you intend to keep the car for?

Ill kick off....

Cambelt not long after 80k, Clutch at 105k, front springs at 155k (front right snapped a few weeks ago). Next on the list is another cambelt and waterpump before 160k. Suprisingly all the bushes are fine!

How long do you intend to keep the car for?
For as long as it lasts. There's no rust at all, its still mechanicially sound. Its economical, practical and fits my needs perfectly.

Im on 126551.

Bought the car in jan 2008 as ex cat d which was repaired before i bought it with 89k on the clock.

I have replaced battery. exhaust. Stearing rack. Crankshaft sensor. Brake pads disks pipes. Thats all i think.

Im going to keep it as my family workhorse. Ill keep it until something major breaks that costs over 300 pounds to fix.

My lexus is almost there, no major faults, only 1 minor.

My Saab is on 130,000+, it had a new engine but that was down to a bad map.

Our Track Teg is showing 130,000 somethings, most of this will be km though, engine pulls like new.

I bought her a couple of years at about 85k and all the belts had been done along with a complete fluid change before I bought her. In my ownership shes had a couple of new steering arms, bushes and a new sump, aside from usual consumables.

How long do you intend to keep the car for?
Probably another year or 2. Would like an Impreza but need to pay a few other thinigs off first. Plus while she's not the newest or fastest, she's well specced for her age (climate, 6cd changer, cruise control, electric windows, heated seats) and suits me fine.

Only bought it in the last few months. Full history, cambelt was done at 90k (4 years ago) so its due in a year or so. Clutch was done at 120k. Still on original gearbox and drives sweet. Only parts I have changed that needed doing when bought were front 2 wishbone bushes (did the whole wishbone) and the drop links as there was a slight tapping on bumps from them. £450 spent on buying the car and repairs in that 3 months.

Till it dies really. Enjoying it a lot as its a fun car on some of the roads around here. Petrol economy isnt bad (38.5 on last check with a mix of motorway and city driving) and the dog fits in the back.

Until it dies, or my fiance finally gets a job rather than being a student!

One of my managers at work is about 230k on an old Volvo 240. He looked into getting it scrapped a while back but they said they'd only give him £70 for it so he decided to keep it.

Apologies for not being current but it impressed me whilst i had it:

Only had it for a few months, but I have a pretty comprehensive history and can tell you since 60K miles 8 years ago it has had:

  • Some sort of immobiliser bypass switch fitted as a stop gap for the faulty security system
  • Eight new tyres
  • New exhaust back box
  • Set of discs and pads all round
  • new top hose (whatever that was, something minor to do with a water leak)
  • routine servicing every year inc. consumables (fluids, filters, plugs etc.)

While I don't have the history file to hand, from memory I think the above bills, including servicing total up to less than £5K for the eight years which I think is pretty good. Obviously petrol and insurance are pretty steep but road tax is good because of its age.

As long as it doesn't fatally break down or get written off I'll keep it as a workhorse for some time. The other reason might be if petrol prices become an issue.

What car is it?
BMW Z3 3.0 Coupe

What mileage are you currently on?
51,250

What major parts have you replaced?
Front brake pads and the pusher fan and housing.

How long do you intend to keep the car for?
Had it about 9 months now, probably going to keep if for another 2 years at least I would have thought.

The Volvo I sold with 190k is still going strong with a clear MOT and it's had no work apart from a service.
