I am building a Peltier setup at the moment

Ok as you saw from the video,it was taking way too long to get to temp,so i had them wired in series and that was not working to its best potential,so i have wired them in parallel and am now getting temps of -23 which was the lowest yet,if i cranked up the power a bit more on the Mean Well i could probably get lower, but as a friend told me,if I were to do that i would be paying out my ass for power to run it,I will keep you all updated,my next thing is to get it running via the controller and mosfets.

Good work mate. What are the water temps like? DO you have a link to US2's chiller results?

Have just had a big setback, while leaving the tecs running as I was wanting to run them to test loop and everything for leaks,I came back after 30 mins,to find 1 side of the block, not working.
Massive setback for me as i was just about ready to hook the whole thing up and finish up.
Will keep you all posted.

That sucks, only just read through it, encouraging attempt. Mine went rather poopy, I tried tec's briefly though I can't even remember what system it was on, maybe a P4 dual core or something kind of time so a pretty long time ago now. For me I just never had the psu capacity to push the tec far enough, some 2nd hand meanwell I got.

The case is, insane, brilliant, but insane :p But I love "non standard" builds, personally I've always been a if you're going to watercool/anything more extreme, putting it all inside a tiny case is just costing your performance. Saying that I did have a vapochill for a while, but to be fair, I had a second one out of a case attached to a gpu for a laugh aswell at the same time :p

Good luck, hope you get the tec sorted and at the very least get to try the thing out.

The -23c temps aren't epic, but aren't bad, as you add cpu heatload it will obviously go up but as the water gets hotter, radiators get more efficient obviously so it hopefully won't go up that far.

Ok I have been in contact with Ultrasonic and to his credit he is going to sort things out,he will be sending me new peltiers and I will then be Torquing down the block and insulating it,this way it reduces costs for both parties.
I have therefore ordered some MX2 Thermal compound for the Peltiers and I have all the torque tools I need.
In the meantime,i have stripped down the block and have removed the peltiers and used the block to run my system on water for now.
That is the pc I am on now, will keep you all updated.

Hi PromETHieus

I would just like to say this is a quality build you are doing i had peviously watched your video clip of your desk mod and im impressed. Its nice to see someone not conforming to the general pc modding layout i.e. a case.

I'm happy that you have the patience to do something like this and im enjoying seeing how this is progressing.

How loud is that desk with all those fans you have running?

I cant wait to see the fiished project and to see how well those tec's actually perform.

I would have loved to have done something similar but i havent got the patience or the time.

Keep going and ignore any negative comments. Look forward to more updates.

Thankyou for all your comments, all very welcome.
Build is not over, not by a long shot,I am still very keen to get this working again and finished.
The temps I had the other day, were not," out of this world",but for my project, they would be good enough,I reckon I will end up with temps around -10 -> -15.Which would be perfect.
I have also had another thought about controlling them,I know there are boards ready made out there, certain robot boards are ready made PWM,H-bridge boards and some that I have read up on are quite encouraging.
Will keep you all posted.
Ps,the desk is not noisy at all,yes there is a faint fan sound, but I can actually turn my 4870 x2 up to 60% and it becomes irritating just on its own.

Hi folks,I finally found a uk company that sells the Peltier units that I am after.
Order placed and bits should be here in the next couple of days.
Then I am going to do it ,all over again.

Parts are here, all wired up,reflow done on indigo extreme.
I am getting poor temps at the moment,i have a feeling that even though the tec's i have replaced are labled as ht ones, that they may not be as good as the ones that were here at first.
I was getting -24 on the old ones but on these ones i am getting no more than -14 and when all hooked up to cpu the temps are not even at 0 the lowest i have had soo far is 04 deg c .
I may look into getting the 460 version tec's.
Apart from that even when i am gaming,my temps dont even go above 10 deg c so thats a good thing.
I will be looking into things more over the next week or so.
Hope to advance on what i have at the moment.
I will say though that for a first attempt at this i have completed the job and have no leak issues,or condensation issues at all.
So no matter what way i go from here,i can only improve on things.

Actually mate, could you summarise all of the parts used in this build, prices and the steps taken to put it together?

Will do that as soon as i get a free min to do so.
We are getting ready to get the kids off for a few days.
I have prices and such in all my emails, will put it together soon.

Good luck, look forward to more pics.

Looks a strange block design though - not sure why it's an impingement design. I haven't looked at tec stuff for ages and I presume it's been tested though, so it must work :)

The last tec blocks I saw in the UK were DD Maze4/Swiftech MCW6000, though I know the US carried them on long after with Black Widow blocks etc, so I'm only about 7 years out of date :p Never dabbled in phase myself, but came very close to tecing my ATi 9800; a friend had a Maze4 and 80w on his 9800 and his room ended up so hot it was uncomfortable, just with the tec addition, so I changed my mind lol.

Are you registered on XS or benchtec?
