Hi guys,

I bought an ATI HIS 6950 a few months back and now when i turn on my pc, it's asif my graphics card isnt plugged in.

Like i have speakers and can hear the windows log on sound but nothing appears on my pc.

I re installed my old graphics card and that works.

What do I do to fix this or how can i get a new one sent to me?

Regards,
Nick

This card has been previously working for a few months since i got it.

Just only recently it stopped working.

To start with the monitor would stay on for a certain period, then like 5 hours later. boom, no graphics on the monitor but the pc was still on.

Is your old car ATI too or is it Nvidia? Just wondering if you need to remove the old drivers before doing the card swap over. Does the fan spin? Everything connected?

old one was NVIDIA but that wouldnt make sense that its been working for ages, but no now. sureley.

just going to check the ATI card recieves power.

Hmmm I personally wouldn't have thought an ATI card would work with Nvidia drivers and vice versa. I'd pop the working card in, remove all display drivers, pop the new card in and get the latest ATI drivers installed.

don't think you quite understand.

Ill make it easy for you.

I reformatted my pc with the new ATI graphics card and installed the latest drivers.

The card was work fine for several months, and then it because buggy and then stopped working.

This therefore has nothing to do with any NVIDIA drivers at all, no trace of any other drivers appart from the ATI ones.

drivers wont be the issue.
Have you got another card to test in the machine?
Can you test this card in another machine?

Reseat the RAM, PCI devices and obviously the graphics card.
Is your PSU functioning fine? And what PSU do you have?

i7 920
GIGABYTE EX58-UD3R
6GB DDR3 Corsair XMS somthing.
Corsair 850watt modular power supply.

Im currently on the pc and just installed drivers for my old graphics card.

The pc is functioning poerfectly, so i think my ATI 6950 is ****ed.

How can i get a replacement for free as ive only had it for a few months.

cheers

I would start a thread in the support section. I've always been lucky enough to have rjkoneill,5UB and now Bailey help me on there.

I think they can arrange a collection but I always find it easier to send via royal mail special delivery and they will refund you.

No need to be rude about it by making it "easy for me", in your first post you mention nothing about how you reformatted your PC and then ran with the new ATI card (inc. drivers). You simply stated the new card doesn't work and the old one does. Saying that they are two different makes, that is why I said it maybe the drivers.

I'll take my help elsewhere....
