Hey there, I recently took my computer apart to give it a clean and and some cable management.

But I seem to have run into an issue.

I have the MSI P67A-GD55 Intel P67, with 2600k i7 and 2 x 2gb Geil Ram Value Plus Ram Sticks.

I put the sticks in slots 1 & 3 as usual and upon booting I saw that it was only seeing 2GB of RAM.

So I played around, switch both sticks around ect, same thing. But Ram sticks work fine in Slot 3 but none work in Slot 1. (Will turn on for about 5 seconds if RAM is only in RAM slot 1

Whats going on here? Is it possible that some how the RAM Slot 1 on the Mobo has broken?

Any help would be great, thanks :)

Tried CMOS reset etc? thorough clean of slot? I had the same issue, made the PC extremely slow and unbootable only on that slot, though only 1 error appeared on memtest, just needed much cleaning of both the slot and stick contacts.

From what i can see the slot seems perfectly clean, i didnt even touch it the whole time. How would you recommend i clean it just in case?

Yes i tryed resetting the CMOS nothing changed.

With both sticks in it boots for about 5 seconds, and will boot fine with 1 stick in slot 3.

I didnt clean the motherboard just blew some dust off it (no vacuum or cloth) and same with the RAM.

I've always just put my face up close and blown the slot top to bottom a few times after drying my mouth, though the safest way to apparently do it is compressed air.

Tryed cleaning the slot by blowing into it.

3 LED's show on the mother board then it just keeps rebooting.

Is it possible the slot could just break?

Yeah, it happens. I've had it happen two or three times over the years without warning. Best off just RMA'ing the board mate if you ask me, sounds like you've exhausted all possibilities.

Do slots 2&3 work or slots 2&4, or any others?

Yeh thanks mate, its seems only 3&4 work still playing around though.

Yeh il get in contact with OC about it.

Thanks for your help guys.

It's possible, it was a common thing on the 1366 boards back in the early days that RAM wouldn't be detected. Worth a shot I think :p

alright il give it a shot.

Also is there any problem with my RAM being in Slots 3 & 4, It seems to be working ok, maybe abit slower.
