Who saw Saving Private Ryan in the cinema? (spoilers obviously)

Such a good film. The fight sequences are so good it's hard to imagine them ever being bettered by anything else.

Best d-day landing sequence ever couldn't be more visceral or heart rending when you think these guys were 18-19 years old :(

worst part of this film is the house fite near the end with the nazi vs the wap .... and the weasel man just watches it... freaks me out massivelee

when i watch it it does indeed make me mad at this scene and i get mad every time

watched this at my local once and the amount of people raging at it was crazy.

was a epic scene

English mother****er, do you speak it????

The way things are going with kids today, we might as well let the Nazis won and we'd all be speaking German. Respect the people that died for you so you can speak your own god damn language!!

When I saw the thread title I was sure you were going to ask about the light bleed effects which come up near the beginning and end of the film. I've never understood the point of putting these in. Sure, Spielberg says it is to emulate cameras of the time or something, but lets be honest, it just looks completely naff and to me is totally unecessary and spoils the scenes.

They don't like it, Upham.

I always find the very ending the hardest to watch.

The hardest bit to watch for me is Mellish's slow stab to the heart. This never fails to make me feel queasy and watching it in the cinema the first time was quite difficult, especially as others have said, with Upham tossing it off just down the stairs.

Damn I know. Annoys me like crazy how he just stands there listening, but then again he was probably absolutely scared to death which is more than understandable, being in a war.

He was a kid who got involved because he could translate. WTF did he want to be in a warzone for.

I'm sure a lot of us would be just the same. We're lucky we'll almost certainly never see such an infantry heavy war again.

LOL WUT.

I saw it in the cinema, the most memorable part for me form that experiance was when they were in the town at the end and the tanks were approaching. In the cinema I was in the whole building was rumbling and you could seriously feel them getting closer. Really brought you in to the moment.

He was shot once. To lure his comrades out. Probably the best thing ive seen at the cinema. The sound was insane.

This is one film I wish I could have seen at the cinema, just for the atmosphere.

Is the german guy that stabs the other guy at the end in the hand to hand combat scene, the same german guy they let go earlier on in the film, when they raided the MG42 nest?
