GF got her degree results today and she didn't get what she needed to get the job she had been offered. Anyone know any feel good stories i can tell her of people who were in her situation but then succeeded later/in a different line of work. (she studied maths and had an accounting job lined up) or any advice of what she should do next

Where did she do it.

She did a decent subject, but where makes a massive difference.

A 2.2 in that from a decent uni wouldn't matter and she could get a job elsewhere :).

Iv got a politics degree, she's got a lot more prospects.

ha-ha commiserations

Edinburgh university.

Iv been telling her she will get other jobs as Edinburgh is a good uni

EDIT: she defiantly wont do a masters in maths, she hates her last 2 years.

Has she actually spoken to the company that offered her a job? Only if they liked her enough before they probably still do regardless of her result especially as it's a proper subject from a proper Uni.

Also is she hot? Hot girls seem to get lots of places in the top law and accountancy firms, something easy on the eye for the male partners to fap over/on I imagine.

she hasn't spoken to them yet will do in next few days i think. She did an internship with them and she got on really well with them and the "big boss" recommended her, however the job condition was a 2-1 and she got a 3rd

A 3rd is just 40-49% average. If she did a 3 year course then I bet it was weighted 40% 2nd year and 60% 3rd year.

She must have known, way in advance (possibly at the end of 2nd year) that a 2:1 was not achievable if she got a 3rd!

Ouch, surely she knew what her projected grade was though? Unless the weighting was massively influenced by the last year?

4 year course as its Scotland waited 50-50 in 3rd 4th years. she was at 60% after 3rd year exams so lowest end of a 2-1. must have just done really bad in exams this year

That doesnt make sense :p.

50% at just over 60% means she had to have failed (averaged under 40%) to drop her grade below 50% average to get a 3rd. From what you are saying she didn't pass the final year.

Must have know after her January exams DDDDDDDDDDD:. A third is bad times! Should've changed courses, tbh.

there is no January exams 80% of 4th year course in 2 weeks of exams in may. other 20% is course work which is only handed in just b4 exams and results at same time

you only have to pass a 80 credits out off 120 i think. so low marks in all and a few fails
