Pic: Your desk...RIGHT NOW

My setup.

All on my new desk + a lovely huge mouse mat from OcUK:)

Castiel doesn't the amp get hot when in use and your monitor stand block the heat from the top vents? My NAD amp gets pretty hot and if I remember back from the 340R CA amp I had in the past, that too got pretty warm.

I'd recommend an Ergotron arm and then it can nicely "hover" above the amp allowing the vents to breathe!

Anyway, from the setup thread:

I don't get these enormous mouse mats. Firstly they look crap as they cover all that nice wood or glass, secondly they're pointless as your keyboard does not benefit from a mouse mat.

It doesn't seem to get hot at all, the vents are only partially covered and there is plenty of ventilation other than that.

I have thought about an Ergotron arm, but most I've seen are for smaller monitors unless you want to spend a couple of hundred quid, which I don't particularly.

I gave up using them years ago. A wood surface is so much nicer.

The keyboard's not supposed to benefit but when typing your wrists are grateful as it's soft and comfortable.

Also, they don't look crap! Although that's your preference so that's fine.

Lastly, it's supposed to cover a large area of the desk. I know what desks look like after a couple of years of rolling a mouse around on it without using a mat and these things are inexpensive ways of protecting the surface while providing a comfortable worktop at the same time.

£11 to protect a £100+ desk seems reasonable to me!

What size is your screen? Looks 27" to me?

I have the Ergotron MX and my screen weighs about 11KG. The MX supports screens up to 30" and a few more KG on top of that. I paid £82 for it!

They protect the surface of the table, they are no different to having a writing mat on an office desk.

I do quite a lot of writing etc on my desk so it needs a certain amount of protection.
