Now that the sun's come out, the chap round the corner from me has got out his gold VX220. I love it.

Yep looks like i was completley wrong. Checked mine today and they do fold down. For some reason I think I was getting them mixed up with the fact the parcel shelf is solid and doenst move.

The one downside is when the seats fold down you dont get the full width of the boot, to post things through. It has a kind of surround that makes it narrower getting through to the cabin.

You can kind of see it in the below image, the light grey bit is the back of the seats that folds away, unfortunatly the boot build is blocking the sides but you can see how the black lip starts curving down at the top. It basically falls straight down from there meaning when the seats are down the gap into the cabin is about 2/3 the width of the actual boot.

I named the courtesy car I handed back with great amounts of delight yesterday a "Vauxfail Asturd"

It lived up to its name, it amazes me how people pay actual money for them, actual money that they earned through working, amazing. Vauxhalls should be left to the fleet market and people that just dont now any better, IE the girls that the OP refers to
 
I had to settle for a Vauxhall - Its got bugger all kit in it, leaks in the rain, eats tyres and can only just get two people in, and then its a squeeze.

Crappy VX220 :(

You've hit on another point there, because the criticism doesn't just come from those that prefer cars with higher perceived build quality. The Ford mondeo is the perfect example of why Vauxhall are lazy.

just because its cheap, doesn't mean it has to be poor quality.

They are both poor quality.
IMO the Mondao is poorer in quality but then that is subjective because different people look for different things on a car & have different niggles. They are however both "run of the mill" cars, quality being an after thought.

Every single motoring publication rates the Mondeo over the equivalent Vauxhall.

Even my old man, who is a MASSIVE Vauxhall fan and has used them for years. Has recently bought a Mondeo, he likes it says its crap and boring comparred to the Omega but it does what he needs it to do and its cheaper to run.
 
Meh.

OCUK has always hated vauxhalls and always will. Theyll deny any ownership of the vx220 or vxr8 to vaux too. Pretty sad

Ive a SE2 Coupe and it does fine. Bought it at 19 and still have it at 21 as insurance in NI isnt great and I cant see any significantly better car to swap to
(Go on ocuk, spec me a motor..)

I have a 636cc ninja for my speed buzz and the astra is just the cage although it did come with a full irmscher kit from the factory and the half leather/alcantara seats so its not poverty spec.

Id rather have my boring astra (Which handles like a go kart now yey) and my bike than your mapped diesel
 
I think its actually a pearlescent paint, read that somewhere.

Looks purpleish at night and like astra vxr blue in the sunlight but just a hint deeper,lovely gold flake too!
