***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

Am i the only one still getting xfire issues with the strobing and crap scaling, i'm using the latest drivers and cap.

Xfire is just crap. Single reason why I 'down graded' from my 5970 to a 480. The 480 just works. If AMD could get their drivers right them it would be another story.

It wasn't necessarily the scaling but it's just so inconsistent. Sometimes it just doesn't work at all and other times it performs poorly. On other occasions like BFBC2 it is amazing. It also seems to take amd quite allot of time to support new games were as nvidia, even with older drives just works. Oh and before people start saying I am an nvidia fanboy, this is after owning 2 X H2O 4870's and a 5970 on air and water.

The guys above you were talking about ATI's multi card solution, AKA Crossfire.

As for the Xfire app still being popular, I'm not really sure, I know a lot of people who've deserted it though ever since Steam introduced the community and chat features.

downloaded 1.8 and then after when it tries to patch i get this, its not running in the task manager either.

edit: works now after the 7th try lol

All this E3 talk made me curious enough to give Crysis 2 a go, basically because I was bored and I had no more new games to play. I played the first game and never liked it much, mostly because I wasn't fond of the missions, and the jungle landscape (I got bored much like I did with Far Cry even though I acknowledge they are brilliant games in what they do and are beautiful).

Anyway, purchased Crysis 2 and left it downloading this afternoon, then once ready loaded it up and my god... I'm actually enjoying a Crysis game!

I really prefer the new setting in this one - New York. I prefer Urban settings, as it is easy for me to relate to, than some jungle somewhere.. I also like the plot concept so far, which kinda reminds me of I am Legend in many ways :p and I am really enjoying the action gameplay and nano suit and interactive hud display. The nano suit and hud feels very Deus Ex like this time round, but maybe that's just me? I really like that being a huge Deus Ex fan. :o

So far, this really has impressed me a lot. I wasn't expecting much at all after so many people who like the original Crysis didn't rate it much. Maybe it suits me more because I am the other way round, I don't know.. But, finally a Crysis game I can play and enjoy!

The music also rocks too!
