Usain Bolt thinks he's good enough to play for United

Looking at his generally lazy attitude towards training I doubt he'd do well. Has anyone pointed out to him that running constantly for 9 seconds, once, isn't the same as running continually for 90+ minutes and recovering from sprints?

What a load of ****. Do you know his training habbits? He didn't just wake up one day and thing "hmm i know, ill go to the olympics and win gold tonight"

And fyi he has stated he does 3-4 hours of intense every day ;)

Isnt it widely publicised that he has a rather lazy attitude to attending training, not so much the training itself.

He apparantly turns up late to sessions, parties until the early hours and doesnt have a great diet.

Im sure a lot of this is speculation but most rumours have some kind of foundation on which they are started.

I thought that was the press putting a negative spin on it due to the drug issue:confused:

Same with the American football that he tried iirc. He wasn't bad, he just wasn't a younger kid with a history of playing the game.

A lot of sports stars had the opportunity to become great at 2 or more sports but had to take up only 1 of them at a professional level.

His diet is quite poor from what I remember him saying, he ate chicken nuggets before running that fastest time just because he loves them lol

You're talking about a team who signed Dimitar Berbatov here :D.

If Usain Bolt can take the ball out of the air like Berbs I'll be surprised.

With regards to his training, he admits to going out on the ****, poor diet and has reportedly missed training sessions etc. If I was him I'd be training my hardest while at my physical peak to set a WR that will never be broken. Instead he seems happy to sit on his laurels and accept what he's got. That to me is the attitude of a lazy amateur - not a dedicated professional athlete.

Compare that to David Beckham who since he began would routinely spend an extra few hours on the pitch AFTER training practicing nothing but his free kicks.

I want kids to grow up thinking 'if I work as hard as I can, maybe I can achieve what I want' rather than 'yeah, that'll probably do, pass me the McNuggets' - that to me is a crap sporting role model. If the sheer prospect of being the fastest man alive forever doesn't motivate him, he's not a real sportsman in my eyes.

I'm guessing it did. You have seen him run right? :D

Note the word 'forever'. The man is blessed with genetics, however he doesn't seem to want to push hard enough to set a record that will be impossible for anyone else to beat, genetics or no.

He will never be good enough to play in the premiership. Anyone who thinks otherwise has 1 word: deluded.

Exactly. Just because some of you clearly fancy him as he's a great athlete doesn't mean he'll be any good kicking a ball. Do you seriously think kicking a ball now and then during training and playing with teams when he has the chance will compete with someone who has lived it from a young age? If it was that easy it would have already happened a million times over as he's not the only sprinter in the world.

If he's been playing footie since he was young I can't see why he can't be a professional footballer. Maybe not Utd. I can Imagine him as a full back.

I recall reading some articles soon after he Won his first Gold's and he was an all rounder. He's a super athelete.

Many top sports men and women have the choice to do different sports at a professional level. It would be ignorant to assume that because one person does one thing that they could not perform to a good level in something else.

Forever.... until the next genetic freak comes along...

There is no forever.

To true I remember in 96 when Johnson ran 19.32 for the 200m at the Atlanta games which was something like .4 of a second faster than anyone else had ever run that I'd seen a record which would never be beaten...........13 years later Bolt had knocked another .13 off it!!!

lol

yeah, i know literally thousands of people who have played football since they were young, and take a guess how many of them went professional?

just because he can do 100m and 200m (specialised events) does not make him a pro footballer.

professional footballers are much more rounded than sprinters, there are so many different aspects to it, whereas the 100m is all about sprinting for 10 seconds.

Fair enough... BUT he could put up a marker that will dissuade a lot of people. If he went anywhere close to 9.0 flat it'd be a real sporting achievement. However, he seems happy to sit back where he is. Or end up as a one-trick pony fast winger for a crap Championship team. His choice I guess.

Also - 'playing football all his life' - how many of us on here could say that? I can tackle like Vidic, doesn't mean I can read the game, last 90 mins or distribute the ball like him.

He doesn't exactly just do 100m and 200m though, bit of an understatement there. :D :D

You make it sound like what he is is nothing to be proud of haha. Ridiculous.

I don't think his attitude is anything to be proud of at all. He is naturally gifted, but hasn't put in anywhere near the amount of effort he could have that would make him possibly one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. If you think a 'that'll do I guess' attitude is something to be proud of, I don't know what else to say.
