Went to see the dermatologist the other day about a suspicious mole, and whilst there she asked me (as she said she asked everyone she sees) how often I moisturize. To which I replied with a raised eyebrow, that I don't. She then told me how important moisturizing was for the health of your skin day to day and as you age etc.
So on her advice have decided to give it a go and wondered if I had some how missed the memo that you're supposed to moisturize and that I am one of the few that doesn't? or am i about to become one of the few that does?

So, do you moisturize? (talking about face only)

Moisturise and facial scrub twice a week. Ah Nivea for Men, creating gay men for 10 years :D

Its the modern day equivalent of rubbing dirt in your face to remove dead skin then having a shower afterwards.

Why do you only do it twice a week? Is that what is recommended?

I use a moisturising shower gel because if I don't my skin itches to buggery. Also a moisturising facial scrub because it owns.

only after a shave but i do use facial scrub to remove dead skin when i shower.

ive always had young looking skin anyway so maybe i dont really need to where as others like yourself might need it

In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

There's no need to moisturize, just make sure you drink plenty of water.

From what i've read, this is a misconception. Water hydrates the skin, but not the top layer/s in the same way that the sebum does - which effectively forms a shield of oil on your skin to protect it, which when washing your face is removed - hence the need for moisturizer.
