Just downloading this now

Im completely anti-steam (but please lets not get into this now) so im not getting it from there.

I would love a quick crash course please gents, the quick google I've had didnt reveal a '1 stop shop'. There seems to be a million patch's for it and they seem to be done by a mixture of date and version to make things harder.

What patch I need to download
Worth while downloadable extras
General tips
Configs

You name it, I would like to learn it

You wont like it, but install from Steam, job done.

The game updates itself, there are no manual patches, the patches are handled "in-game".

Embrace Steam, it is not like it is GFWL.

What harm is there using Steam for a free game?

How can you be a PC gamer and not use Steam?

1) Your right, I dont like it.
2) Not true. There are tons of manual patch's. Thats my problem.
3) No I dont wish to, but I would like some TMF help please.
3) I do not wish to support steam in ANY way. Free game or paid.
4) I have to make threads like this once in a blue moon.

I remember asking nicely if we could avoid this line of questioning:

A simple 'patch x' is the latest will do.

Can you not just DL TNF directly from their website? pretty sure it includes an auto updater, or used to anyway.

Its not 100% clear who 'their' website is... (Ive only had a quick look mind as I said)

Ubisoft seem to have bought it and are much more forthcomming with the paid versions
Nando (sp?) made it not seeing much about it from them
Time publishing or someone are mentioned in the installer, I havent checked them out yet.

I was kinda hoping for an 'enthusiast's low down' from you guys. Will install and look for the auto updater, thanks.

Right I'm up and running! and without using steam

Incidentally I fail to see how my views on Steam make me one of the 'foil hat brigade' /\ Foil hats represent paranoia. Im not paranoid, however I don't like being forced in some cases to install their crappy software and being treated like a pirate from the get go when I'm a paying customer. Steam complicates more than it simplifies in my view.
It seems your brand of 'Komedy' is full of fail rather than gold.

Being forced to pay my TV license when I'd much rather opt out of everything BBC and 'make do' with the other 500 channels I willingly pay for also grips my ****.

wow this guys logic gives me a headache, especially seeing as steam is a strong force in keeping the PC gaming industry going.

Sure, because for me personally it serves no purpose. I dont want any of its 'features' I just want to play the game I bought. For me its an extra step, and just one more thing to go wrong.

My logic is crystal clear. I dont want it, dont need it but I'm being increasingly forced to used it.

Its not my loss because I dont need it. Lets get that stright. Steam will go on without me, so they wont lose either. You have lost nothing by reading my views which were drawn out of me. So tell me, who's being ridiculous?

I think its because people dont understand why, you give your opinion loud and clear but no actual reason for it. "sticking it to the man" really doesnt cover it in this case :\

I kind of see where your comming from mate, thing is I didnt want to get into any of this! I guess I am 'sticking it to the man' in my own little way. Thats not to say I think my actions will have any impact on steam whats so ever.
Ive only answered questions\comments. I havent tried to broadcast my vies or impose them on anyone.

O'Rly? I was asking general questions prior to installing. Patch being one of them.

Just trying to get my head round what your issue with Steam is. Has it caused you issues in the past?

Simple, effective and unobtrusive. Auto updating. Keep your games on multiple PC's. It is keeping many of the smaller smaller developers in the market as well. That is how I find it anyway.
