Why do online retailers insist on using DPD as a courier, with so many complaints about stuff going missing, or broken, or the delivery guy just not bothering to even knock on the door, and posting a sorry we missed you note.

I myself ordered a Pioneer MVH-7300 headunit on Friday for my car & paid for Saturday delivery from a well known book store, it should have been with me yesterday as that what i paid for, so i could get it fitted while on my days off.

Saturday came and went with no sign of my deliveries from these cowboys.

Their online tracking says Awaiting Receipt Of Parcel, whatever that means.

The book store has now refunded my Saturday delivery cost, and promised me it be here on Monday, and tbh im not holding my breath for it to show up then as the headunit i ordered isn't a cheap one and is now properly in somebody car rather than mine, so it's more likley i be getting a refund.

I've shopped online for years & never had a problem, be it from Citylink Parcelforce ect.

So who else has had problems with DPD?

Actually, DPD are the courier who, for me, have been the very most reliable. i've never ever found their service to be lacking.

As an aside, Awaiting receipt of parcel means that the courier company doesn't have the package yet. it sounds like you should be complaining about the retailer and not the courier company.

Doesn't waiting receipt of parcel mean that DPD themselves haven't been given it yet by the well known book store?

They have it.

They've been fine here. Had more problems with City Link and their parcel football, Royal Mail and their black holes at the distribution centres, and one slightly disagreeable UPS delivery driver.

I reckon your stuff will turn up in the morning and it'll be ok. I've wasted longer waiting for deliveries unfortunately.

Plenty with the old never hearing the doorbell and finding a 'we missed you' note in the letterbox when I finally go and check mid way through the day. I honestly don't know how they get that far and don't even bother to ring a bell. It's a flat FFS, the only thing you CAN do is ring the sodding bell!

They have it now don't they. In your post at the beginning you said they didn't.

They always had it, since the time it was sent off, and were does it say in my post they not got it????

I LOVE DPD :D

Always been delivered on the date I chose (except once - Stores error, not DPD's error)

Get up in the morning with an email telling me what time it'll be delivered within an hour, so get extra sleep knowing when to get up :D and it always does arrive in this time frame.

DPD are the best courier I have ever dealt with. It seems that some areas have a 'bad' courier.

Lots of people complained about CityLink but I never had a problem with them either.

My most recent DPD experience was a "card and run" which is very annoying when you pay for before 1pm delivery and you're sitting waiting for them. Retailer wouldn't do anything about it so I phoned the depot (who were not impressed after phoning 3 different departments, should have an easier system than guessing extension numbers!) who called the driver who was back within 5 minutes.

Completely unbranded van, if it is one of those "local" delivery people do they get paid per attempted delivery or just per package?

I am just going by what you posted originally. Did they update the latter telling you when they picked it up?

Right i'll clear this up

The tracking i posted is from the book store, which basically says DPD received it.

Now the tracking i get from DPD is this

10 Jun 2011 parcel - saturday 12:00 Awaiting receipt of parcel

Which as a poster pointed out they haven't recieved it yet at the depot.
