Yeah, I'll keep checking the ... checkers :p There's lots of work going on with the cabinets in my area. I've found two of the new light green cabinets in my village, so I guess they're slowly getting the work done.

But what could be making my speeds drop over night?

Also a temporary solution to those having issues with BFBC2 browser and Infinity, basically it seems yo have to let the server browser search for along time...... maybe 1-2 minuites, press the x button (after a long time) and it should return at least a few server, enough to get a game going.

Not great, but it will allow you to play at least.

Im going to request new equipment from BT, as my speeds should not be dropping at all should they?
Nope, my speeds have been rock-solid at 37/6 ever since I got it installed, so something's wrong on your end. :( You using the homehub? I'd try without that piece of crap if that's the case.

Frequent restarts of the VDSL unit won't help your line profile either, I'm afraid.

Interestingly, my speeds dropped from 37mbps to 29mbps when I changed the Home Hub for a different router. They went straight back to 37mbps when I put the HH back and have stayed there ever since.

I tried BFBC2 the other night to see if I got the same problems as others have had, and didn't see any issues. Logged in fine and the browser came up as quickly as usual.

I've had Infinity now for approx 8 months and its never dropped whatsoever during that time.

All full speed downloads 4.5mbps if the sites I'm getting files from support it.

Never had any issues with BC2 either although the server browser is a bit slower to respond in the evenings due to the amount of available servers increasing in the evening.

Worth every penny and with a bit of luck they will be upgrading the speed towards the end of the year.

Indeed, my only question is if this will be seen as an overall network capacity upgrade or if they'll start offering different speeds on FTTC as well. Would be nice if they put us on 60/15 for the same price we're on now. :P

Im wondering if to switch to Infinity, at the moment Im on on BT Business and get 7Mbps downloads which is pretty good, its totally shaped for Torrents and gaming isn't much good due to interlacing.

Would it be a risk to switch to Infinity, as reading all these posts i'm a little worried It wont be any better or even worse.

If i get 770KB/s downloads now, what sort of estated speed would it get if I opted in?

So in your opinion, the fact that every 2 weeks or so I have turn off and on again (5 time, yes FIVE times) my equipment becuase over night it drops from 37mbps down to 4mbps, I should request new equipment from BT?

You have never experienced this issue before?

I was rather surprised to see that FTTC is due at our exchange in October.
We are usually right at the bottom when it comes to this kind of thing.

I'm with Talktalk Business at the moment using ADSL2 - 15mb/1mb.
Their online estimator mentions 33mb/8mb for FTTC and I believe it's just an extra £10 per month.

So fingers crossed, might be looking at a move later this year.

Anyone here moved from VM to BT Infinity? I am having terrible packet loss with VM and can get Infinity here.

Just looking for some options :)

Iv come home to find my dsl light flapping and obviously the broadband down as a consequence.

It is warm in my loft, but the modem isnt exactly hot...

Could it be the heat?

Anyway, Im going to need to go through the whole turn off and on 5 times before its stable :(

Mine has only just come back on. Couldn't connect at all since 4:30. The DSL light on the Openreach modem would flash green, then go out, then flash green etc.

The BB light on the HH would stay a solid orange.

EDIT: And just went down again.

Just spoken to BT, supposedly I have a fault on my line. :o

It seems when you ring BT its pot luck whether you get to speak to a muppet or someone who is half decent at their job.

Why did the BT person I spoke to on Saturday not see that I had a fault on my line? :o

Muppets.
