Hi i have been saving up for some time now for a new rig i have designed specifically for FSX. i7 sandy bridge, GTX580 etc but i just don't know which add ons to buy. I mean scenery, waters, weather, skies, airports, TRAFFIC, i want the full package, preferably worldwide.

Do i just need FSX Global 2010??? and some traffic?

help!!

Have you seen the dedicated FSX thread in this forum. Lots of amazing screenshots which should point you in the right direction.

For a basic starting point I'd recommend the following.

Real Environment Xtreme 2.0 - sky, clouds, water
Europe - I use Ground Environment Xtreme and Ultimate Terrain Xtreme Europe.
Airports are generally bought individually but costs can really add up.
Orbx do fantastic scenery, IMO probably the best payware addons in fsx. Currently have got USA west coast packages but they also do the whole of Australia.

Traffic is a real performance hit and can be right pain in ***, so for general flight I tend to have it knocked right down to a bare minimum and use the freeware world of AI.

Personally not a fan of FS Global.

thanks

thanks for the help lads, although the link just shows screen shots, i was just a bit confused what the difference is between GEX and UTX

Yeah plenty of screen shots but it'd give you an idea of what is available. It's quite a long thread but has a lot of useful information about both setting up FSX and good addons (both freeware and payware).

GEX gives you ground textures where at UTX gives you terrain such as water, rivers, coast lines, roads etc. One of the two also gives a better lighting.
