They attacked Minecraft?

I think thats all the proof people needed really that they're a bunch of 10 year olds who think they're untouchable.

This goes totally against their original ethos. Originally they targeted big companies and typically did no damage, just informed them of their security holes.

Taking down Minecraft is essentially the polar opposite.

Quick question: is it really that easy to hack into all these major companies? There isn't anything solid in place to stop this? Or is it a retroactive type of security - ie: hack us, but then you'll go to jail for a long, long time.

They aren't "Hacking" them. They are DDoS'ing them.

They've taken down Eve online and Minecraft as well as a few other random servers so far.

For as long as they're followers on twitter suggest new sites to go for this will carry on..and on.. they have an audience, and a paying audience at that, they have no incentive to stop so it seems :( idiots!

Well you'd hope that the larger companies would've had either things in place to stop the hack or things in place to stop sensitive data being stolen. That was proven wrong and keeps getting proven wrong.

But Minecraft? Isn't it a very small independent dev working on it? You'd hardly expect them to be able to fend off a large attack. Besides, it sounds like they DDoS'd it if they broke the website and login server*.

*I may be talking out of my arse here.

Twitter should release their details to the authorities tbh.

Won't do much good.

They have crossed the line to serious organised crime today tho so I'm guessing some of their "members" are gonna be feeling the weight of the law before too long.

They took down Escapist with a 0-day Apache exploit from what I read. I've yet to find out how they did EVE and Minecraft though, possibly something similar (Or a DDoS).

Edit: Oops, turned out the Apache exploit was Bethesda. Today's are all DDoS's I think.
