EA Removes Recently Released Games from Steam

Digital only doesn't seem to be considered a problem when it's Steam though. Methinks there are too many Valve fanboys around here...

Me thinks you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Indie games, yes, most are digital only, would be bloody impractical to do it any other way. But every other game that uses steamworks still has a retail copy available to my knowledge.

This bugs me frankly no end....

Admitedly I doubt it'll affect me too much, I get most of my games in DVD form still, saves me a lot of hassle xD Saying that Steam certainly has its perks... and having more than one multi-distributor kind of undermines the whole point...

The best thing for me about Steam was that it brought together all your games in one place... Now all my games are going to be in a couple of places... I might as well have just stuck with the original bloody icon system... Also have to now check more than one site for offers etc...

Next Activision'll set up their own system for WoW and COD.........

Aren't people forgetting that Valve forced Steam onto everyone who bought Half Life 2 on it's original release. Back then Steam was rubbish. EA will now probably try to do the same with one if their biggest game franchises. At least if they do they can see what Steam now does well and at least try to emulate it, rather than going through all the pitfalls of being first. I'm not that keen on having more than one DD service installed, but no one knows how it's going to play out, so I'll reserve judgement for now.

This is incredibely annoying and a real let down.

I love having all of my games and friends on Steam and it would be a real hassle having to switch back and forth between the two to launch different games and play with different people.

I really hope they make an official statement about their position with BF3 and Steam, I can only pray they make it available for Steam aswell!

Alright I was able to transfer my main account to .gmail.com which is good.

Just went to support to see if they could sort out my issue and well they are pretty useless. So Bad Company 2 is registered to my .gmail account however it is registered on my .live account to download it from the origin manager so I have no way of downloading it on .gmail account which is the one I need to play it... psssh.

Michael: Hi, my name is Michael. How may I help you?
Michael: Hello! This is Michael waiting to hear from you. Please respond if you are connected to this session and let me know how may I help you?
Matthew Davis: Hi I have 2 EA accounts. Battlefield Bad company 2 only plays online with my account that is linked to my googlemail address this is the one I use all the time. However I want to start using Origin and I wanted to activate my Bad Company 2 on my account however it seems it is activated on my live email address so I can download from this account but I can not play on it I have to login into my main account is there a way to transfer the activation to my main account?
Michael: Well Mathew Sorry to say that A game registered once cannot be deleted or transferred.
Michael: Your game is registered on lightsnsoundsandnutcases(at)gmail(dot)com
Michael: So you have to use lightsnsoundsandnutcases(at)gmail(dot)com to login in game.
Matthew Davis: Yeah it is registered to that game but I can not register it to Origin so i can not download it from that email address
Michael: Yes there is no way to register it now on origin.
Matthew Davis: Seems a bit silly that it is registered to mattjd2295(at)live(.)com to download it but when really it should be activated to my gmail address
Michael: If you came earlier before registering your game then it could be possible. But now there is no way.
Michael: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced.
Matthew Davis: Ok thank you for your time.

Seems silly that they cant just allow me to be able to download the game from Origin with the account that is registered to it. :(

People saying they'll buy BF3 from retailers, haven't you considered that you will probably be prompted to register with origin upon inserting the disc. I find it highly unlikely that buying from a retailer is simply going to be a work around to using origin when EA are pushing it. I think it more likely that playing BF3, you'll be using origin whether you like it or not.

Is ME3 likely to follow suit? I recently started to enjoy Steam, I think it's an excellent digital distribution platform.

Typical EA ******** up the games industry one step at a time. I hope they rot and die and all their employees suffer from horrible venerial diseases. :(

Oh man... one of the best intarweb comments I've ever read :D :D

Just when E.A looked like they were starting to turn a corner...

Have the same games been removed from other digital providers too such as D2D and Impulse? If no, then this is pure ********.

**** you E.A, I have just uninstalled Origin, it only had Sims 3 installed anyway.

Edit:

Yes they have:

Interestingly, while these titles are available on EA’s new Origin service, the games remain available at other popular download stores, such as Amazon and Impulse. Although there has been no official statement from either EA or Valve concerning the matter, it would appear as though EA is preparing to drop the proverbial gauntlet in the battle over digital distribution market share.

I am standing by Valve, they have done nothing but good for the PC gaming industry, even when others were looking down their noses at Steam.

I for one WILL NOT be purchasing BF3, sure, I will be missing out but my choice.

E.A, read this:

I think it’s pretty silly of EA, given Steam’s place in the market, and given that I can no longer be bothered installing a game in any other way apart from Steam (finally: someone stopped me pirating stuff by making a decent system).
