Hi,

having some problems with my overclock, am hitting a brick wall at 3808mhz, also to get this speed my vcore is 1.6v [it shows as 1.4vcore in cpuz but goes up and down with activity], if i try to increase the fsb any more it blue screens [caused by some sort of custom bios?]

this was bought as an overclocked bundle from overclockers, im wondering if somehow the bios is limited as the vcore is very high

specs as follows

x6 1055t 95w @ 3808mhz
750watt antec true gamer psu

Now when i recieved this from overclockers it bluescreened its face off untill i pumped the voltage up a little and its now perfectly stable but worried about the voltages. the only other thing ive changed is pumping the northbridge up a little and the vcore to get it stable.

any help apreciated?

im still within the 14 day rma period so would like some answers :)

is cool and quiet disabled in bios, thats whats causing the vcore to fluctuate.

c+q is enabled as it came that way from overclockers. if i turn it off the cpu would be 1.6v constant? ive read this voltage is far to high for these cpus so its better to leave on for now?

edit :- just turned c+q off and tried dropping my vcore to a more acceptable 1.55v but it bluescreened hard on a run of 3dmark so turned it back on and put voltage back to where it was.

I suspect it's the same bundle i bought a while back.
It might be worth checking which BIOS version you have as I had a similar issue after I got mine RMA'd (motherboard caught fire, no, seriously, it did!). Before the RMA it was fine, but the RMA replacement motherboard had issues (apparently to do with the PSU or something).
The solution was to go back to an older version of the BIOs and rjkoneill (I think) sent me the overclock profile for that BIOS version. That got the default settings working.

Out of interest, what temps are you getting with that voltage?
what cooling are you using?

CPUz shot is odd, my X6 (currently at 3.5GHz, 1.2v, <55c load) shows a max TDP of 106w...

Also, what speed is your RAM rated at?

FYI this is the bundle
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-038-OB

In the small print it shows changing the bios invalidates the warranty. Will get the version for you tomorrow.

Cooling is corsair h50 included in bundle max temp ive seen has been 55'c iirc.

Thanks for all your help so far I'm new to forum but not to overclocking. Will get onto customer service about an rma I think as not happy about the voltages.

Yeah, that's the updated version of the bundle I have (different RAM and CPU cooler).

I was told to downgrade to the F4 BIOS. I was on the F5 BIOS at the time I got the problems.

However you make a good point about the warranty so it's probably best to get hold of customer services and see what they recommend. If you do change BIOS version the OC profile probably wont work, so if Customer Services instruct you to do it they can hopefulyl provide you with an OC Profile for the BIOS version they recommend.

Just stuck a thread up in the customer services part requesting an rma so will update thread as it goes :)

I'm willing to bet it's the motherboard as it looks kind of mid-range, I had a 890FXA-UD5 for a while which is/was Gigabyte's previous high-end and it didn't like FSB's over about 275 at all, a Crosshair IV I had was brilliant though that did over 300 easily.

Did you try to disable turbo boost?

It's not the fact that it won't overclock anymore that's the problem. It's that it has to be at 1.6v just to be stable on the overclock (this was bought as an overclocked bundle see link ) when I received it from overclockers it just blue screened untill I put the voltage up.
