Has anyone been following this?

Sorry if this is a repost but it sounds like a super strike.

Teachers, air control, tube train drivers all on the same date.

750k people are apparently willing to strike in the public sector.

Personally I think it's outrageous. A lot of people depend on these services!

Not just the public sector, private sector staff as well - Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Accenture, G4S, Mittie, Trillium etc.

A lot of people depend on these services!

Maybe it's time people started respecting the employees that provide those services then!

really? I hadn't seen that.

It doesn't specifically affect me but still interesting to see some reactions to this.

If they dont want to work sack them, there are plenty others looking for jobs.

Do you wear a top hat, have a walking stick, an eyeglass and own a cotton mill?

Glad to see Victorian values are alive and well in 2011!

If they don't like their jobs, they should find new ones instead of being morons.

Ah, you mean the cowards way out? "I know, instead of sticking up for a job I like and believe in, I'll just run and hide instead". Good oh!

Are the public sector ever happy?

With the government in charge of thier T&C's is it any wonder they are unhappy?

More like "I'll sponge a day off because I can't be bothered". Wasters.

"I know, I'll laze about today and lose a days wage just for the hell of it". Yeah, pull the other one.

Anyone can take a day off unpaid when they like - so why don't they do it more often? A full days wage is a lot to lose - must be something significant for them to take that action.

My driving test is on that day! anything I can expect?

Find out if your tester is a member of PCS. It's unlikely, most are members of Unison and they haven't balloted yet.

Teachers in particular shouldn't be allowed to strike. The people who teachers have a duty of care towards, children, are going to suffer as a result of this; what a drastic and selfish course of action to take.

I know you're one of these 'stick it to the man' people but seriously, this is out of order.

Indeed. Unfortunately they aren't as easy to replace as many people.

Duty of care? Pull the other one. You're not one of these parents that think a teacher is just a glorified baby sitting service for your little darling are you?

I'm not a parent at all. Whats your point? Are you one of these irritating teachers that think the tax payers and government owe them the world when it comes to remuneration and retirement are you?

Do you not think teachers have a duty of care?

I'm a private sector worker who has no access to a public pension, other than the laughable state pension, that is sick and tired of teachers complaining about working conditions.
