It isn't stupid when people do it in random/awkward places its when they take it to far and do it in places where its dangerous.

Edit : I seen someone doing it on escalators and I found that funny.

My neighbour (75) has recently taken up this "sport" and to be fair he is doing it extremely well. He has been planking face down in his back garden for the last 3 days solid!
