Got my Blackspire Stinger fitted and adjusted (Ichabod, your tip about greasing the threads did the trick)
Makes such a difference when pinning it over rocks and drops. No noise at all from the chain.
Currently have a lizard skin protector, but ordering some frame wrap later

Ace :) I was surprised at how much difference the Stinger made to getting a silent ride but it is really efficient. I take it your screws sat flush into the recess on the plate? Mine didn't, stuck out by about 1mm so I had to drill it out a bit

Yep, screws are 100% flush. They didn't come with the stinger though (I bought one second hand on eBay) Just got some M6 countersunk hex screws on Ebay as well.
There was no way they were going in without the grease. I thought I was de threading them it was so tight :) Turns out it was just excess paint in the ISCG mount holes...and M5 size was definitely too small as I tried them as well.
I always rubbished the need for a chainguide/tensioner on a hardtail, but since I got the 456 and the longer travel fork, it has transformed the local trails. The stinger has made the ride much better from a chain slap perspective :p

I love them, one of the few bikes I'd ditch the Trance for. Benji Haworth from Singletrack built his up for DH too!

it was a couple of quid for 10 screws, bargain really!
Stainless steel, so hopefully a suitable material. I see Nukeproof do Titanium ones for about £4 a screw...didn't fancy splashing out on those bad boys

They were sold by Halfords for a bit weren't they? Kind of says it all :D

Its just the name thats the same now though, they're making some really nice stuff.

One of the kids on my local riding spot, is on the Saracen DH team this year.
I had a go on the DH bike and it was mint. He's also brought his Ariel up, and it's most definitely "the DHer's trail bike". Very nice little bike that.

Got two 2.4 UST rubber queens ...Got a pretty decent deal on one slightly used.

Ive put the front one on and its a huge tall tyre compared to the equivalent 2.4 nobby nic.

Thinking on whether 2.4 front and back will be a little overkill and to keep the spare for when the fronts worn.

Anyone run 2.4 RQ's front and back or do you think im best for a 2.2 back?

Bike tape sticks fine to ano frames, it did to my Makulu.

edit: completely random.. but by god... just6 realised I've been past the 8K posts mark?!, holy crap I can talk a lot of sh!t

Did it have like a shot blasted finish or was it really smooth? I'm going to give it another going over with degreaser and see if anything will stick to it tonight.

Thought 2.4 front and back might be a little overkill .....Ill keep it for a spare and get a 2.2 for the rear.

Im sure it would fit no probs with clearance on my enduro.

Just fitted the brakes, shortened the hoses and found a daft Torx bolt on the top of the lever, why such a daft size torx. Going to have to go to the shop tomorrow now for a T10, i only have a T15.
