The same series as the popular card game, it's coming out on steam tomorrow.
I've not played any games like this before, but it sounds like something I would be into, and it was only £6.

Anyone else into this stuff, otherwise I'll be playing on my own :(

Dabbled a bit in the card game, but I always avoided this because I heard you can't build you own decks, you have to buy pre-built ones.

Kind of defeats the purpose, half the fun was coming up with unual decks that people wouldn't be prepared for.

Is this the same as 'Duel of the Planeswalkers' on Xbox live Arcade?, I bought it a few months ago, won the first game with a fixed deck then it gave me the opportunity to muck about with it a bit, apparently you get more and more choices as the game progresses but haven't had chance to try it out yet, still working my way through Fallout 3.

Only card game thing i played before is yugioh. Only cos i liked the anime tho just the first one all the sequels were crap. The game in itself was kinda fun shame it was a budget cash in game on the pc tho.

I've pre-ordered! I've been playing the previous version on Steam for the past week and have got somewhat hooked.

It's more of an arcade version of Magic, in that you don't need to buy and create your own decks. Your given a set of pre-built ones and there are many decks to unlock through the campaign. It's the same game as the Xbox version (Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012) but I don't believe you play people cross-platform.

There is another version, "Magic the Gathering Online" which is more like the original game, you have to pay a $9.99 one-off fee and then buy packs of cards to make up your own decks. However I've not tried this version.

If anyone fancies a game on Steam let me know :)

assuming this is the same as the xbox 360 game

you unlock approx 20 cards per deck some of which are replicas anyway and then you can remove some of them.

its hardly customisation and is the one thing i was hoping they would improve on in future versions.

so far all they have done is made you pay more for other decks.

its a real shame as i would really love to be able to make my old decks like in the old way :D

I assumed they would eventually make it a case of buying decks similar to rl for use within the game.

I played the original version a while back and I really enjoyed it. :) I never got into the card game or previous video games. For me this was a great introduction and I'll get the new version when it's on sale.

If anyone fancies a game of the original Steam version sometime send me a message in trust.

I used to play the card game years ago.

Just got this free on PS3 as part of the free PS+ deal in the 'Welcome Back' package after all their trouble haha. Will give it a whirl sometime soon :)

Would have prefered to try it on PC, a mouse seems better to use here than a controller. But it's free, so meh :P

Pre-Ordered :) I love card games although I would rather not spend money on the actual cards. I wished someone developed a mature Pokemon card game.

Just bought this on steam and I'm terrible, I haven't really played a TCG before and only mucked about with yugioh, I can't even beat the first guy in the campaign (koth) he whoops me every time and I've played him around 20 times now, i'm up for some multiplayer though, just search ocuk substance on steam community

This game gives me nerd rage.

It's a wonder I ever managed to actually play it live, because when I'm playing against the AI, it really gets on my **** :D

Don't stress too much about Koth - I must have played him a dozen times before I won - and my friend was going to give up until I took over and got a lucky start. I did it with green, he did it with white. Having tried it all again with more cards unlocked, he still beats me! Basic White is probably the strongest against him, I reckon.
