Need help spending £2000 Gaming Rig

Why are people speccing single 4 series nvidia cards on a 2k build? get a 30 or a 27" screen first then add the rest and it will be way over 2k. The amount of people throwing HUGE money on systems with 1080p rez is worrying

No one has specced a single 4 series Nvidia card.

i spec'ed him a pair of watercooled 480's which would run a lot cooler than 2 580's with the crap aftermarket coolers which do not work in sli and in case's with poor air flow you are just asking for trouble

as stulid says "it wont work"

the case i got is out of stock. I have ordered it but when it came to sending it they didn't have any left . Oh well they hope to have some in by the end of the week but they don't seem to hopefully.

so what about his one instead?

Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower Case - Black [CC800DW]

i may give it till monday before i change it.

The 800D is a big bitch, not so great for air cooling as others in its price range but still will be enough for that awesome setup, it makes a killer water cooling case too.

To the OP: it is NOT possible to destroy current games like The Witcher 2, not even a £3000+ rig. Within your budget limit I can only do something like this and hopefully you will be able to play future games at reasonable settings. Actually it might be better if you can wait for the 28nm graphics cards.

Using the 800D with watercooling at the mo, did use air cooling and had no issues with temps :)

For 2k you should be getting some sort of 3+ screen eyefinity beauty.

ive got a Dell UltraSharp U2711 coming Saturday.
As the pc is setup in my lounge/dinning room. And would look stupid with 3 screens one the wall plus im not that keen i what i saw of it with vids ect.
Plus i have a 47inch 3d tv in the lounge so if i wanna go big i could use that i suppose.

If i go the water cooler route. Is it better?
As looking at this Corsair Hydro H70 .
But is there anything else i would need?
As the some of the reviews seem to point that the case was built to be a water cooler case. As the GPU heat up a'lot in it.

As im heading towards the 800D at the mo as have everything else sat in my house but no case :) and seems to be no clear time frame when the silverstone will be back in stock.

I have started to build it. i added corsair H50 to the spec.
I did get it to switch on :)
But the CPU temp in bio menu says its at 63c is this too high? im guessing this is. I plugged the cpu caller is just a normally fan plug as it was only 3 pin and thats what it said on a video i watched.
but to me there must be a problem.
any advice?

Just to add i did get the FT02 and done a push pull on the fan system

If thats at the stock speed with the Intel speed step enabled (so its actually idling at 1.6GHZ) then it is to high, take the cooler back off and check the thermal compound for spread.

i put more paste on as it looked like a bit was missing i just switched it on gone ti bio again and it says 45c now.

So what is left budget-wise for monitor?

In basic terms you need to decide:

120Hz -Fluidity of movement, unmatched smoothness and responsiveness

VS

IPS monitors - Ultimate image quality, vibrancy, colours, definition (and depending on budget) resolution.

EDIT: IPS Panel monitors are as above exemplified here:

Great image quality but expensive.

Yes we're all waiting for IPS 3d monitors :D

@Vinnie just bcos it's a £2k system doesn't necessarily mean IPS monitor, it depends on the person uses. My rig totalled something like that and I chose 120Hz over IPS bcos I only play fast paced games and I'm so glad I did.
Yeah but @6ms grey to grey you'll certainly see some trailing that u won't see on a 2ms grey to grey monitor.
