I owned a Chilean Rose a few years ago, it was insanely aggressive even though it's meant to be an easy starter to the tarantula keeping world! I'd love to keep something a little more exotic but the other half would probably kill me in my sleep

can i borrow her please, i have some problem seagulls nesting on my roof that need some subtle dispatching![]()
freaks
also keeping animals caged is cruel
Yeah I used to have a Chilean Rose, been looking at some Avicularia last hour or so. I keep crickets and morio worms for my Leopard Gecko anyways. So may as well treat myself.
Avicularia Metallica, Avicularia Versicolor or Avicularia Purpurea.. Hmmm
Yeha pokies are pretty, but you get lovely things like th above if you are complaicent (sp?) with them![]()
haha you're funny![]()
You are aware that the tarantula isn't capable of thinking "Oh, my world sure is small". It has no opinion on the matter.
It's not like a dog that can show affection. As long as the correct environment is maintained and the correct food given, it really doesn't matter.
Nice spid.I've got a Red colour form Chilean Rose and a gorgeous Greenbottle Blue.
I bought the Chile Rose about a year or so ago as I was terrified of spiders, but also fascinated by them. Really amazing creatures to watch - I have a healthy respect for the speed at which they can move though, so handling them is a no no for me.
I've also got a Bearded Dragon, Leopard Gecko, Albino Horned Frog, Green Anoles, Anery Corn Snake and a Dubia Roach colony to feed them all![]()
OP, you said that the bugs you fed your spid would sometimes have babies, why don't you get a second, really cheap tank, and let loads of them repoduce. Then restrict your spid's food for a week or so and unleash it into the second tank so it can do some proper hunting while they are running and stuff?
Of course, remember to get us a video![]()
I do keep my crickets in a seperate tank, they breed in there. Not enough to sustain a constant colony going though, and crickets can get pretty smelly. Not sure I'd want to put ellie in there, and being moved from her tank to theirs would likely stress her out, the last thing on her mind would be eating.
When I had pet rats I used to let them go in with the crickets though, they loved chasing them nearly as much as eating them![]()
