New wheels: MG ZT 190+, with review!

Oh dear... :(

This only cost me £850 to insure, massively impressed at how little it costs to keep on the road being a chunky V6. But then again, my no claims discount is 4 years now I think, too much cider to remember at the moment. :p

nice one i am a big fan on the mg's. I was somebody that pioneered a supercharged mg zs for many years until recent (2.5v6) (260bhp, 229atw)

for what its worth a post up top metioned you do not need your vis valves.. you do unless you want a dog of a car

cheers

Were you on XPower Forums with that car? I think I remember you, I've also got a ZS. :)

Very nice. That interior deserves a less tacky looking head unit though :p

Also as it seems you aren't afraid to get busy with the spanners, is there any way to adjust that bonnet?

Shall we run a sweepstake on how long before you get 'fed up' of the fuel consumption and get rid of it? :D

No idea what the car is like, and I'm not a fan of MG, the looks or anything about it. However for under a grand that's some good value for money.

Looks nice, I always liked these, I considered buying one myself a few years back, before I bought the ST220.

You've managed some surprisingly good fuel economy there, I didn't know these were quite so efficient tbh, the very most I can get on a motorway trip just sitting there between 70-80mph with the cruise control on is 33mpg ...any hills will see that go down to 31 or even 29 with enough long uphill sections.

That's a lot of car for £1k, I have a few lenses cost/worth more than that!

Nicely done! (makes me wonder why one would spend £20k on a new dull saloon when you can get a V6 for £995?! Spare £19k sitting in the bank would be nicer!

Cheers all. :D

Been out tinkering, and have made a totally definitive list of faults that are annoying me already. This one will be perfect and for minimal cost, too.

- Clutch pedal rattled and squeaked, turns out the mounting bolts on the master cylinder were loose. Quality clutch replacement in January, then. :p
- Rear passenger door didn't open with central locking - new actuator fitted, which was given to me with the car.
- Front passenger door sometimes doesn't open with central locking, currently fitting this but came in for a brew.
- Could do with an oil change, although it was done recently it's done a good few miles since then.
- Clutch pedal was soft at the top, system bled and it now feels much better.
- Radiator mounting bracket was fractured, new one fabricated this afternoon.
- The lower coolant rail is corroded to ****, so I've made a new one from copper. The Rover one is made of steel, and costs £35 and they're hard to find to boot. Will get pictures of the replacement up soon, need to fit this also.

All minor things, but they've been annoying me somewhat. Not bad for a £995 car though, everything else works 100%.

We also test fitted a cheap 'cone' type induction kit, and wow... what a noise. Think I nearly wet myself when it got above 5k, amazing!

Did you check the heater matrix for hot air on passengers side? I only found out when I needed it, Mrs freezing cold I was some sweating, nearly crashed from laughing so much.

So you got a bit of metal and using some precision tools (a hammer) bent it into the right shape?

Few offcuts of copper, connected together using rubber hose right?

Sorry Mat, it's only meant in a light hearted manner but unless you've learnt to weld or have access to pipe bending/metal working machines, you don't half make some stuff sound much more extravagant than it actually is :D
