I have an interview with M&S tommorrow and I was wondering what do you guys think is acceptable clothing wear.

I was thinking to wear grey trousers, black shoes, white shirt and a black blazer with a tie but I feel it might be a little informal? Or maybe just shirt, tie, jumper and trousers.

I have black trousers but they look a little worse for wear, I'm heading into town later to get some new ones but I was interested on peoples thoughts.

The position is customer assistant.

Suit is OTT for customer assistant. Shirt, tie, jumper and trousers is what you need.

Suit, if it's a hot day you could leave the jacket at home but at the very least wear the trousers, shoes, shirt and tie.
This needs to be stickied.

Walk into store with black shoes and normal clothes on.

Head to clothing section. Pick out a nice pair of trousers, plain shirt, unoffensive tie and a jumper.

go put it all on, then head to interview. in interview tell them that you live the M&S brand in terms of clothing, you have a full kit on after all.

Exit interview, get changed out of M&S gear, go home.

In all honesty I dont think it will matter a huge deal on your clothing. More your general attitude and personality. Im pretty sure my friend went for his retail interview in a TShirt and jeans..

Cool, saw Leonardo di caprio wearing it in a film yesterday and thought it looked awesome, but I'm going to potentially pack shelves, not stealing peoples dreams.

I think I'll go with the jumper shirt and tie combo, I think it suits the nature of the interview best and I feel more confident wearing that.

Thank you for your help guys

at netto yes

at M&S not so sure

my rule is usually to dress a level above what id be wearing on the job and M&S staff wear shirt and trousers dont they ?

only reasons i might not wear one are 1) i dont have one! 2) its a scorcher of a day
