Afternoon,

So on Saturday i bought a brand new VW Polo :D

Got the S trim with the A/C, it's red and it's uber cool.

Was speaking with the VW sales guy for about 90 minutes trying to come up with a decent deal and settled on £190pm.

I get 3 years free servicing with that as well with some other little extras.

Traded in my Mazda6, but due to the poor condition of it i didn't get that much on P/E but i'm not that fussed as it wasn't too much off the P/E price.

I'm excited but also a bit scared as £190pm is a lot of money, but i suppose you have to pay a fair bit to get a decent brand new car.

So, i pick it up this Saturday and will take pics for everyone!

WOOP!!

/hides and waits for people to shout at him

I was going to say this sounds like some kind of lease deal.
So the bigger questions:

1. Did you have to pay a deposit - if so how much?
2. How many payments of £190 are you going to make?
3. What would the final payment be after you've made all your £190 payments for you to actually own the vehicle?

A vw polo is uber cool?

Well no, but i like the Polo.

So the bigger questions:

1. Did you have to pay a deposit - if so how much? Deposit was £500
2. How many payments of £190 are you going to make? 35
3. What would the final payment be after you've made all your £190 payments for you to actually own the vehicle? At work so don't have the actual figure but it was 4k something :D

£190 per month means nothing, it's the total cost you should care about.

I do find it hilarious when people shout about how good their monthly deal is. My mate just bought a 90's MX5 with a total value(inc APR) of nearly £6k. On a car that's worth what, £1500?

I have had my new polo for just over a year now... it's a great little car! Hope you love yours as much as I love mine :)

Well no, but i like the Polo.

Sounds about £11,500 in total for a red Polo with Air Con, assuming you pay the final payment in full. If you need to finance that, then more interest needs to be added.

Dare I ask which engine?
Edit: What about the part exchange? Was that the deposit?

They are indeed decent little cars :)

No, it was £500 plus £800 for my Mazda6.

And before people start saying how bad £800 is - let me just tell you that my Mazda was not in a good condition.. at all!

I got the 1.2l engine - only drive 30 miles a day (2 x 15mi trips) so that's all i need.

Interior was lovely... exterior not so much :D

It was a 53 plate which had a large dent in the boot, loads of body work done due to my incident, a leaking Air conditioning bottle, ripped windscreen wiper, scrathes, scuffs etc.. and a bad right light.

So yea, not good!

Nice little cars these and doesn't sound like too bad a deal. You will soon get fed up with a 1.2litre engine and want something quicker though, Mark my words!

Sounds like you get a bit screwed on the trade in. Even in poor condition a base model 53 plate 6 should be worth £1200 of anyone's money.

No, it was £500 plus £800 for my Mazda6.

£500 + £800 + (35 * £190) + £60 (option to purchase fee*) + £4625 (final payment*) = £12,635 total amount repayable

* = figures taken from 3 year finance quote on the VW website.

Seems a like a lot of money to me for a 1.2 Polo.
