Full Tilt Poker License Suspended by AGCC

after the recent revelations I think it's been obvious that FT's days were numbered

well at least without a massive overhaul and restructure

American authorities have effectively blocked the .com domain of poker sites. Something to do with the gambling laws in the USA.

I thought that stuff like roulette was a more dangerous type of gambling as it's luck where poker is at least a bit of skill.

Not online, no skill whatsover (well maybe a bit). You can only really say poker is a skill playing face to face.

Too many times I have been knocked out by some numpty going allin when he has one or two cards to win and he hits on the river

Ignoring face to face poker in actually fact roulette is the game ina casino where the odds of you winning are the greatest. There is only the ) which tips the game to the house.

Which is why you should bet all the money you are willing to lose in a casino on one single bet on the roulette table and not 10 smaller ones for example.

That gives up the best odds of walking out up but boring as hell! lol

Damn just read that one of the stipulations is that players can;t withdraw their money! That's crap if you had one a $20000 tourney and hadn't got it withdrawn before today.

Knew that had been happening for a while, remember when in the us seeing all the pokerstars.net adverts for the no money sites :p

But from Rotty's comment sounded like there was more going on here than that

Ahhh thanks guys. I knew we were talking about online poker. I just thought that it was conducted like some kind of 4-way Skype / video conferencing where you see each other's faces and you see some (but not all) the body language like poker for real. My bad :-)

The closing of US site is part of it, money laundering allegations, selling 100% rake back accounts for cash, subsidising high roller bank rolls with other player's frozen funds, allowing high profile players to multi account etc etc

all og the above have been alleged

i want my moneys! and to play poker! is there anywhere reliable online?

Pokerstars is the biggest site and showed after black friday that it could still pay out.

However if I put money into online poker again I will choose a UK based site as it should be way safer. So Sky Poker perhaps.

Sorry but this is rubbish. Do you think people who consistenly make millions online have no skill? Maybe you're playing very low limits with people who know little about the game and just play for fun. You can't generalise and say it has no skill if you're playing for shrapnel.

Ivey was a huge stakeholder in FT aswell. I can't believe that (if it is true) these rumours were knocking around the circuit about allowing this without him hearing. I hear he is now sueing FT though.

Comments like these are the reason online poker is profitable.

Go read about variance.

Pokerstars is pretty much 100% safe. They have to keep the exact amount they have in players deposits in accounts in the Isle of Man (where they are licensed). Which is why they were able paid out their US based players in a matter of days after reaching an agreement with the DOJ.

I took all my money off FT after black Friday, anybody who kept money on there with the knowledge of the US DOJ indictments is either insane or just hates money.

That over $2m consistent profit over a 3 year period, tracking almost 5 million hands played. Pretty lucky huh?
