Power crazy, us never.

Most of the rules are fairly simple, and based around the idea of the forums being a relatively polite, and tidy place to visit.
We don't allow for swearing for a simple reason, English is a wonderful and expressive language, you don't need the crutch of a handful of (generally rude) words to be able to express your opinion, and there is zero need for them in relation to something that is linked to a business (IE the shop has a link to these forums...).
Most of the others are based on either legal common sense (no warez etc), or common sense as it's the owner of a business who pays for these forums (and I believe they are not your typical cheap hosting package).

About the most controversial rules are probably the MM ones which have evolved to try and keep the buying and selling of stuff by members relatively safe, and easy to use, whilst the Avatars, and signatures limits are there partly to keep the forums looking uncluttered/relatively tidy, and partly to keep the load times/wasted space on people's screens down.

I've had English teachers who were really bad with English...

Though I couldn't put up with the Devil Spawn that are school children. :p

I had an IT teacher who always asked us to put our keyboards on our CPU's. I did so. H gave me a detention for attempted destruction of school property

What you said seems cool enough to me. There are some smug losers on here though.

Just my opinion. :)

Haha! I seriously have no idea what he could have meant with that. My IT teacher wasn't much better. I've had arguments with IT teachers when they've tried to teach us something IT related that was completely wrong.

I've also had a teacher try to convince me and the class that "define" means when you go against someone's wishes, and "defy" means when you describe the meaning of something.

Secondary school teachers as well, embarrassing!
