****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

One thing you can't change is when the PIN lock kicks in, I have been delaying PIN lock on phones for years but they failed to bother on the samsung. Its not even like you can fix it with widget locker. I dare say there is something out there app wise but when you are talking about PIN lock security it really needs to be hard wired into the device.

delaying PIN lock is a feature of HTC Sense not Android.

Delayed Lock will add it to any device.

I had the Sensation to keep but after using it for a week there was no reason to keep it I already had the far better phone, none of my mates who have htc phones liked the Sensation and utterly disappointed with the bad video/camera which htc can't get right, one of them has a Desire hd the other a desire and they both said they wouldn't upgrade to it.

A sense rom on GS2 ? I would pass on that sense is nothing special now, there are plenty of better launchers on the market that don't eat all the ram, not that ram is a issue on this phone ;).

I agree about the camera thing, HTC are bad a that but regarding Sense 3 & comparing it to other launchers is silly, other launchers are just that, Launchers. They look like sense but then once you click something you get stock or poor visual integration. Sense isn't just a launcher, its not skin deep. The integration goes much further and thats why I prefer it. Sense look a like launchers just don't cut it for me. ;)

I've had mine for a few weeks now but due to so many other things going on in real life I've only just got a chance to really start playing with it...

Anyway, I started out by flashing Clockworkmod using Odin, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693

That was fine, so I then made a full system backup.

Played around with flashing a stock kernel back (XWKE7 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/HMN4GUKBPS md5: 3BC006663F23432D2219DFA45D7AAD13 Password is: intratech@XDA) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

This too was fine.

I then thought I'd try and flash a stock firmware, just to remind myself of what a completely unmodified system is like (though I hadn't flashed any custom ROMs, I had tweaked the UI, adding WidgetLocker and LauncherPro). For this I tried both "CWP UK: http://www.multiupload.com/U1WNFZ88L0 MD5: A5A59AE6374C7FC814E8901B40F7C8AA" from the above thread and "Generic XEU: http://www.multiupload.com/IBRBHDUDXI MD5: F388DB98FC83861C2F22E607AE940DBB".

It's not clear which one I should be using; mine is a SIM free UK handset. Anyway, it turns out that neither seem to want to work. I flash them using Odin, with the PDA file set to the relevent tar file linked. The flash completes and my phone reboots, but then it just seems to be stuck in a loop with the Galaxy S II loading animation (I think the maximum I waited was around 4 minutes). So it seems neither ROMs work. Am I doing something wrong? If so, can anyone advise?

For now I've just reflashed ClockworkMod and recovered the backup I made, so my phone's fine. But I'd like to figure out what's going on. Once I've done that I'm going to give the Cognition and Lite'ing ROMs a try.

Ive used screen protectors for years... Normally I've always put one on the phone before using the phone itself. Today I decided to swap for a new one, though the stupid things didnt fit properly so I removed it.

Having said that.... This is now the first time I've touched a screen without a protector on, and............ its sooooooooooo much silkier to the touch... I'm going to leave it off :D

Ur right the glass feels better, but only just, I got a martin fields, and it feels pretty good, had an SGP before that but didn't like it, it felt better but kept getting smears over it. Tbh with how annoyed I was getting trying to fit the screen protector last night with just a few specs of dust, I figure i'd be pretty pee'd off with a scratch, so now I can't even tell the protector is on the phone I'm happy :D

Its bubbles I have problems with lol. That Martin Fields one, comes in a pack of 1... I always mess the 1st one up... Infact I normally mess the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th up too before I get it 98% perfect (bubble wise) then I live with it

I'd spend £13 on one... Just not a pack of them :D

Edit: Ive just spent £13 on a Zagg one. See how that goes, if it dont work first time, I'll do without :D

Well this is extremely weird.

To identify if it was an APN issue driving the poor picture quality, I changed the APN settings to that of the iPhone (I actually have an iPhone simplicity 20 SIM with unlimited data still) and cleared the data of the Facebook application.

Previously, on the new feed of the Facebook application, contacts photos would look bigger and so would the picture thumb nails they would post although everything was very compressed and blotchy.

However, after changing the APN settings and clearing the data, the contact thumbnails were smaller and so were the thumbnails of the pictures they had posted. Not only this but the comment and like details were no longer on a baby blue background and also, there was no posts regarding XYZ friend and 20 others changed their profile photo.

It was if the Facebook application had changed versions, just from wiping APNs.

However, I've just opened it again, and it's gone back to larger pictures, larger thumb nails, the like and comment links being on a baby blue background. However, all the images are now better quality!

I bought 3 of the martin fields one - mainly by accident cos mobile fun took ages to get the twin pack in stock which i pre-ordered about 2 months ago, so I ordered the single pack on monday with intentions to cancel the twin pack, except I messed up the single one the other night with dust etc (which is the cause of the bubbles btw getting spots of lint under it which raises it very slightly. Bubbles without lint are fairly easy to move to the edge and get rid of). Anyway, the twin pack ended up arriving yesterday and I was going to give up and send it back but thought I'd try that shower trick and it worked! No bubbles and no dust/lint :D

Now I have a spare incase this gets scratched up, saves me buying another lol

I had this after my first flash. Wiping the cache and Dalvik via recovery and then flashing the rom sorted it for me.

I'm wondering if there is a fault with my phone.

I first noticed an issue when viewing a photo I took that was fairly bright. I could see horizontal lines flickering through the image, and it would only happen with that photo.

I was looking at a web page now , and when scrolling through the page I noticed that the horizontal lines appearing/flickering was occurring each time I scrolled. Sometimes it remains there for a while after I've stoppped scrolling.

Could anyone test if they have the same issue on their S2 by going to this link and scrolling a bit around where the graphs are? Look closely for faint horizontal lines that seem to seem to 'move'.

Thanks

No flicker on mine... doesn't sound normal.

AT&T version with different button layout:

Any one have any thoughts about if this is real or just a mock up? I love the hardware of the S2 but can't get past the single central button design.
