Ed Milliband is a complete joke

Did unison not walk out today in sympathy with the teachers?

AFAIK they didn't

they did urge their members to stand shoulder to shoulder

http://www.unison.org.uk/

but the did so on their own time and not in the capacity of an official strike as they have not been balloted yet so any unison strike today in an official capacity would have been deemed illegal. I highly doubt a union the size of unison would endorse their members to strike in an official capacity without having first taken the matter to vote first.

If people think back to 1997 when Labour had a landslide and John Major had to step aside (which unlike Gordon Brown he did in a dignified manor) you'll remember the conservatives put William Hague at the helm. Back then he was Britain's only 9 year old slap head and to be honest a Pot Noodles would have been a more convincing party leader.

It's par for the course for a party who's just lost an election.

Ed Milliband is perfect.

Not even the party think he can can become PM, they already criticise him so he is in the motions of turning the party into a leader dictorship.

Watch the party implode, if the SNP start to snip away at the MP's up here they are broken. Watch the by-election up here today. If it's close, it's bad news. It it turns, it's a done deal.

Let's see if David sticks the knife in and there is another leadership contest.

Ed Miliband hasn't shone as Labour leader. The Labour Party voted in majority for David yet the union vote got Ed the job. His criticism of strikes may come back to bite him.

well he wasn't criticising strikes in general, he was just saying that in this case there were still ongoing negotiations and strike action should have been called after these had been completed / broken down.

I think that had it been a strike called by unison he would not have so readily rushed to say it was wrong and he would have been exceptionally quiet and likely kept away from the press.

What?

It's pretty fairly accurate. Labour have historically required a core block support from Scotland for power in Westminster and it was the Scottish vote that essentially kept them in last time and the time previous if I remember correctly.

If the recent Holyrood voting intentions conflate or converge with Westminster elections to the SNP then Labour will not have the power to regain a majority.

At present they are broken in Scotland, so it's a distinct possibility.

Guys guys, lets just get around the negotiating table and put aside the rhetoric..

That was the weirdest thing i think i have ever watched.....

I really do hope it's the case. We need a strong opposition to keep the government in check and on their toes. I'm afraid a goofy-looking lisping parrot that appears to be scarcely out of puberty isn't doing Labour any favours right now. But to be fair, I'm sure anyone with half a brain is already looking past him for the next REAL leader.

I've just watched this properly and it's bloody hilarious!

Question

"Both sides should get round the negotiating table and put aside the rhetoric"

Question

"Absolutely, both sides should put aside the rhetoric and get round the negotiating table"

Question

"Well, I really think that both sides should get round the negotiating table and put aside the rhetoric"

and it goes on... good lord he is an arse.

Oh and negotiations are still going on, by the way.
