HSBC secure key fob

Anyone know if these are mandatory?

It's a total faf. I want to be able to check my account when i'm out and about, but the fob is too big (and butt ugly) to have on my keyring.

I'm considering switching banks because of it - or are other banks going to follow suit?

I keep it in my oyster card case with my debit /credit cards and some cash aswell

Wallets are too bulky. Before heading out i'll stick my cashcard and some cash in my pocket.. I don't want to carry a stupid fob around with me.

Yes that's an option, but I also do BACS transfers etc.

They are mandatory. It's for your security FFS. We don't want threads saying "oh noes! My online banking has been hacked. If only HSBC gave me a securekey"

Think they are mandatory so you'll need to either a) get over it or b) move banks

Its not the worst bank fob/reader, but its made 10x worst by having to use it to log in! :rolleyes:

Im pretty sure they are. However it says you must register it within 30 days so maybe if you didnt register it they might send you out another one. Rinse and repeat.

My advice though, live with it.

Mine don't work1 since the day I got mine, I've gone back to the bank to tell them so they sent me another one and yet again the same thing....
